How does everyone feel about the possibility of Tyson Summers replacing Sherrer?

Looks like he's the leader in the clubhouse...

I'll say that he'll probably be an asset recruiting South GA. Maybe he can get his mojo back

Are all the "hard pass"es simply because he stunk at GA Southern? Just curious if there's somethign more to it. Because I mean it's a pretty massive difference in head coaching a program and coaching linebackers.

He's a good coach with a good pedigree. Just not a successful HC. Guy works hard and is a good man. He'll do well with recruiting, particularly middle and South GA.

Has he coached linebackers before?

Yes, lots. And he played LB. Very qualified. Be lucky to have him.

Here is his wiki bio

2002 - Tift County High School (GA) (DB)
2003 - Presbyterian (DB)
2004 - Troy (GA/WR)
2005 - Georgia (GA/DB)
2006 - Georgia Southern (S)
2007–2010 - UAB (LB)
2011 - UAB (S/co-ST)
2012–2014 - UCF (DC)
2015 - Colorado State (DC/S)
2016–2017 - Georgia Southern

Guy seems more than capable of being able to be a position coach for us. Plus he's from GA, has worked with kirby before, and has worked in the SE for most of his career.

His results as a HC are basically meaningless IMO.

Played LB at Presbyterian. Coached LBs at UAB and UCF before he was DC and HC. I'd say he's qualified to coach our LBs

According to his resume he has a lo of experience and i am sure the HC experience would only make him better. I personally don’t think the resume tells the whole story but his certainly appears that he could help the staff.

Everything I have read indicates that he would help S GA recruiting.

If we get the recruiting talent, I can't see our pass rush getting worse (our leader in sacks is and ILB with 5.5. Our top 3 OLBs have combined for 12 sacks in 13 games).

Only problem I see is that he might be a "one and done". Although success brings, as we've seen, other programs raiding the staff. Never hurts to have an overqualified position coach waiting in the wings in case you lose a coordinator.
