Football is not effectively any faster than it was in 2014 when Georgia ran a ton of I-formation to the tune of one of the best rushing attacks in the country.

Remember when people thought you couldn’t run a physical offense based out of a shotgun set? Equally flawed idea.

I'm a fan of it. I think it creates an additional gap wherever we want it along the line. We control that. That is immensely valuable for an offense.

Plus, I like the misdirection when you dont have to follow the lead.

He was in our face all day and killed us on our rushing game.

This is false. I went back and watched every offensive play focusing on the OL. Our OL did a good job with Auburn's defensive linemen, including Brown. It was the other defenders frequently attacking the LOS along with those four DL that gummed up the works and caused blocks to be missed. You put enough bodies at the point of attack and somebody always goes unblocked because the OL have to make choices.

Even so, Fromm mostly had time to throw but either the receivers weren't open or they were being held somewhere along their route, or he didn't see them or make the throw.

He had 6 tackles and 1 for a loss. 6 tackles is a big day for a DT BTW

I agree, hill kept in stale mated a great number of plays.

So much so Derek whined he was being held when he was not.

I've seen Brown dominate some opposing OL but that's not what happened Saturday. Some tackles were made because too many bodies in the running lanes slowed the RB's down, not because their DL physically beat our OL. There were a few missed assignments where DL, including Brown, were unblocked, which is not unusual when you have so many defenders attacking. Auburn was playing very close to the LOS for both run and pass. For example, three of Auburn's five tackles for loss were made by defensive backs because they were playing so tight.

And Fromm had about as much time in the pocket as he has most games this year against better defenses. He just didn't have anywhere to throw, or didn't see the open man.

I don't think stalemates are what we want from the OL. It basically means that you cant run in that direction because the defender has a chance to make the play at either gap.

And stalemate with a double team doesn't help because we have eliminated a gap altogether which is actually very bad.

I'm not saying that Hill did poorly.
But of all of the players to bring up in a forum for their play, he isnt the guy.

On offense, we have to be impressed with Swift again. Despite low overall production, Herrien hit big plays. That bomb to Blaylock was a thing of beauty. Camarda had a career day and probably could be a candidate for MVP on the day.

Hill has struggled some this season, no doubt. But after rewatching to see if his injury was a problem, I thought he played a good game Saturday.

Against first round NFL talent on an opposing dline, only a fricking idiot would not take a stalemate....

It was interesting watching Brown's technique in some of their other games. A lot of times he grabs the OL by the jersey, pushes them arms length away and then yanks them off balance and bulls right past. He does that really well and it gets his shoulder by the blocker in a hurry. I didn't see that work against the monsters he faced last weekend because they're just too big and strong and well coached.

He threw Kindley like a rag doll one time. That's not something that we see very often.

I missed that one but not surprised. Kindley sometimes gets his feet out from under him. Brown is really strong and if he has a good grip on that jersey you'd better be firmly planted.

Brown was very impressive.

The great news is that Pittman is going to do work and get us ready for postseason.

We had a double team (Hill and Mays) try to submarine Brown on another play and he just pushed us down and stood firm for the play.

I fully expect this to be coaching opportunities that could pay dividends for the OL.

Andrew Thomas will be the best tackle in the NFL within 3 years. We are incredibly blessed that young man put on the G.
