He's not alone. Stewart Mandel, Brad Edwards, JC Shurburtt and Barrett Sallee also picked the Vols...
Guess we're doomed...

Well, they have succeeded in getting clicks from the usual people, plus all the MiZz, UGA, UT, and Bama fans. Imagine if they had went a step further and pick Kentucky!!! The whole D1 football world woulda got them clicks/viewers!

This.
Also if Tennessee does win the east they can say they predicted it. If Tennessee sucks again nobody will remember this predictions in August.

Herbstreit will never pick Georgia until they stop losing bonehead games.

Agreed, Herby gave us the benefit of the doubt for years but he doesn't trust us to pull through when the going gets tough. Can't say I blame him, if you get burned a few times why not try a new pick?
To be honest, we haven't given many writers/pundits a reason to beliveve this is the year we put a stranglehold on the east. I like it this way, gives us some locker room material and some motivation. People are tired of Georgia being inconsistent in the big ones.

At the end of the day, who gives a shite what these "analysts" say about predictions. That's back to back years Missouri has won the East and how many of these guys predicted it...?

Yea....so, don't read anything football related until Sept 5th. Then be one of the other 150 people that jump on this site weekly to add their input.
If you can't understand that this is what makes CFB amazing and different...then go somewhere else. CFB is amazing because we can argue for 12 months, and for 8 months, we can't be "wrong" about our OWN opinions...just think everyone else is wrong...
GO shite on someone else's parade tonight and we will see you when we beat Bama with the other 150 posters that week

I don't want anyone picking the Dawgs for anything. Until CMR & company prove some moxie, I think everyone needs to chill. We haven't won shite in years. Time to put up or shut up by 2017.

I have no issue with Herbstreit picking Tennessee. But let’s be real, this is another talking head trying to capture the “I told you moment”. If UT wins, Herbie says look at me "I told you so". If they lose, he can use the “well, they are a young team”. Eventually UT will win the East, so these guys are trying to get ahead of the curve. Simple as that

Clearly, you do not understand the point of my post. The point being is that the "experts" can predict whatever they want, but does it matter? Not one bit so there is no reason to get worked up about what they say. Their job is to get people like us to click on those meaningless prediction links and drive up those page counts.

It's actually a pretty good call. UT in Knox the week after the biggest SEC game of 2015 (that'd be Bama) is a classic let down game. In prior yrs I'd throw big $$ on the home team in these circumstances.
Lose to UT and they have to lose 2 SEC games. Lose to UT and Bama/AU/SCU/FU and UT has to lose 3. Given our propensity to pi$$ ourselves a couple times per year...

UT is the Ole Miss pick this year... And expectations in Knoxville are sky high this year... I dare say they are much higher than our own.

This is something I have noticed lately. Everyone that picks UGA to win anything in football always has the quick "but" followup qualifier and they rarely make the emphatic statement. Georgia will win.... xyz
It's our bed, we made it and must sleep in it.

Just win, then everyone shuts up. I care not what they say at this juncture. Can anyone in good conscious say we will win the east absolutely? No. Good shot. Should have. UT beats us? Right now the game is a pick'em and that is about right.

Tn will be a very dangerous team this year. IMO they have as good a chance of winning the east as anyone.

I favor UGA for the East but Herbstreit is probably basing his pick on us having to go to Knoxville the week after playing Bama. The schedule gives the Vols an advantage but I think they are the same old Vols.

Tennessee would have to play at close to their full potential to win the East. It's not impossible, but I just don't see them having the depth necessary to grind out 6 or 7 SEC wins. What if one or two of their starters get injured? It's almost guaranteed to happen.
At this point, I see that game in knoxville being a toss-up. I hope I'm wrong.
