Did this board have a COVID thread?

quote:

Andes virus infection is a rare South American hantavirus carried mainly by rodents in Argentina and Chile that can cause severe respiratory illness with a high fatality rate. Unlike most hantaviruses, the Andes strain has documented cases of limited human-to-human transmission, usually involving prolonged close contact with infected individuals rather than casual exposure. The current international concern comes from a cruise ship outbreak pattern that suggests some infections may have spread between passengers, though health agencies say there is still no evidence of efficient community or airborne pandemic-style transmission.

Current timeline via chatgpt

quote:

November 2025 – April 2026
Investigators believe the original exposure may have occurred during travel through Argentina, Chile, or Uruguay before the cruise even departed. Authorities are examining wildlife and rodent exposure during excursions in South America.

April 1, 2026
The expedition cruise ship MV Hondius departs from Ushuaia with roughly 150 passengers and crew from over 20 countries.

Around April 11, 2026
The first passenger dies onboard after developing severe respiratory illness. At the time, the illness had not yet been publicly identified as hantavirus.

April 24–27, 2026
Additional passengers and crew begin showing symptoms. One infected passenger’s spouse is evacuated to Johannesburg and later dies. Another passenger is evacuated in critical condition. The clustering pattern raises concern because it does not fully match normal rodent-only transmission.

May 2, 2026
The World Health Organization (WHO) is officially notified of the outbreak. Multiple suspected cases and several deaths are now linked to the ship.

May 3–4, 2026
WHO issues an official outbreak notice confirming hantavirus cases connected to the ship. Testing identifies the Andes strain, the only hantavirus known to occasionally spread human-to-human. International concern increases because the outbreak occurred in a confined ship environment.

May 5–6, 2026
The outbreak becomes major international news. Contact tracing begins across multiple countries. Passengers are isolated to cabins, epidemiologists board the ship, and health agencies coordinate internationally. Reports indicate:
5 confirmed cases
3 suspected cases
3 deaths

May 7, 2026 (Current Situation)
International investigations are ongoing. Health officials are trying to determine:
- Which infections came directly from rodents

- Which may have resulted from person-to-person spread

- Whether transmission occurred before or during the cruise

Current expert assessment:

The Andes strain can spread between humans, but usually only through prolonged close contact
No evidence currently shows efficient casual airborne community spread

Public health agencies still consider overall public risk low at this time

Yea. We had a few nut cases really show themselves in the COVID thread. They locked themselves in bunkers and thought everyone should do the same or half our population would be wiped out.

The US had an estimated 45,000 deaths attributed to influenza last flu season. That’s just a few months of 1 year.

How many people are coming in contact with infected rat urine and feces to where this is a legitimate concern?

Apparently a bird watching couple were in a landfill snapping pics and then got on a cruise. This strain can be human to human. But it requires close contact.

To be fair, at the beginning of COVID there really was a question of whether or not you’d end up on a ventilator if you caught it. I had a friend that gave it to their aging mother and she died. It was no joke and let’s don’t poo poo the situation when it first broke out.

However, as time went on it became clear that unless you were old or had preexisting issues then it really wasn’t a critical illness. I got the vaccine because my parents are both old and at my age I wasn’t worried about any lingering conditions. I’m healthier now than I was then so it didn’t harm me.

I did not have my two teenage boys vaccinated however as they were so low risk I didn’t want to take the chance. They both had COVID twice and were sick for a day at most.

We love cruising. We go on Royal Caribbean and not on the cheaper 3 or 4 day cruises.

Clearly, because why wouldn't you go the landfill before going on a cruise?

I swear to God, any of y'all who believe the narrative on this after seeing how they made shite up whole cloth with COVID-19 deserve whether they inject into you.

Woah woah woah I didn't know we were already in conspiracy mode.

Anyone who believed the bat story after it came out there was a virus to research lab in Wuhan is a dummy.

Speaking of that, utter failure that that little gremlin Fauci will die outside of prison. He deserves a firing squad.

And he may yet get it. The only pardon hand-signed by Biden was Hunter's. The rest were Autopenned just like all of the other FauxTUS docs.

Fauci may very well be the test case against which the autopen administration is tried.
