You know who else is weak and pathetic? Nancy Mace. Thankfully she pulled a Riley Gaines and came in 5th place. Curious if she starts a fake platform of hate or disappears from the limelight. Ironically, they both focus on trans issues.

Glad they chose her, ‘cause she sucks so badly as a candidate. I just don’t see how she rallies any kind of support, even Dems don’t particularly like her.

Jackson will end up winning going away, though may be hampered by the fact that Kemp won’t endorse him and the GOP in the state is kind of rudderless right now with Kemp a lame duck. His posturing as a self-made billionaire looking to seize power also rings pretty tone deaf amidst the federal govt being run mostly by people claiming to be of similar ilk. I don’t like either he or KLB as candidates, weak ballot for one of the more powerful gubernatorial seats in the country.
Collins is likely going to get run over by Ossoff as well which is fine by me. Jon is at least putting in some actual work in his position. I can’t point to a single meaningful thing Collins has done as a Rep, nor Warnock by the same measure.
Bigger question beyond November is what Kemp chooses to do in the next 5 years as he seems to have actual political momentum should he want to exercise it. Wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a run at Warnock’s seat but I’ve heard a lot of rumors ranging from simple retiring to private business to pursuing the UGA Presidency after Morehead retires.

Will Kemp’s time as governor be enough to offset the fact that he only has a bachelor’s degree? Morehead’s not having a terminal degree was questioned when he was appointed president, but he does have a JD.

It’s a good question and I have no idea, honestly. I think it largely depends on how the USG is situated under the new Governor and how they want the President to function (is he primarily a fundraiser or policy setter? Or is he advancing research and faculty initiatives?) UNC has had a President with nothing more than a Bachelors so it’s not without precedent, though most Presidents without a phd at least tend to have a jd or mba

UNC-Chapel Hill has a Chancellor as its head. He has a JD from Georgetown.

Not current, former. Margaret Spellings was the system president about a decade ago and only had a bachelors

Off topic and understand if you can't or dont want to respond, but just based on your knowledge of the inner workings of the university system and athletic department budgets and what not...do you work for UGA?

And just because Linda McMahon holds that seat now doesn’t mean I want her anywhere near UGA, let alone the Presidency of the University. Idk that Kemp would be a good choice but Gov of GA doesn’t feel like any less a credential than Sec of Ed (at least not in modern times)

Something like 57 percent of the primary ballots were Democrat and 41 percent were Republican. Back in 2022 it was 53-46 Republican to Democrat.
Republicans were already up against it, and then they chose Jackson in the runoff. Jones would've worked better because he's a much better campaigner and would've built a stronger coalition. Jones also would've had more appeal to women. Being nutty and angry works in primaries, but not nearly as well in general elections. Too many female voters are going to find Jackson scary and creepy, and women don't always cast their votes based on the most rational decisions.

My daughter in Roswell is a Loony Liberal Democrat but says the runoff for governor is really weak. She says she will likely vote for Jackson. She loves Ossoff and thinks he is gonna be president someday.
