Georgia only has to beat Alabama once.

Alabama has to beat Georgia twice, assuming they make it past Cincy and we make it past Michigan.
The script is flipped.
Typically, it's a "you have to beat Bama twice" storyline for any SEC contenders.

I feel like this is the most united we’ve ever been in anything

It would please me to play Cincinnati in Indianapolis

True. I don't really care if we get our revenge. NC will do just fine.
Posted on 12/8/21 at 3:17 pm to deeprig9
True however it's a task not done since 2007. I hope we can do it but I sure as hell will not have an ounce of the confidence I had leading up to the SECCG

It is very hard to beat the same team twice in the same season. Kirby has his own film to tweak the defense.if he makes the same mistake twice then he isn’t who we think he is.

Kirby is an elite 2005 football coach, and a good 2021 coach. Having a great defense is awesome but if you have no way to keep it close when that defense can’t win the game, then you’re fricked

Just ask Auburn(2017) how playing UGA twice worked out?

There's the rub - All that conventional wisdom goes out the window if he doesn't double down on what didn't work the first time.

I forget who said it, but somebody once put forth the proposition that other things being equal, rematches favor the original loser, because that’s who has the incentive to change strategy, while the winner typically sticks with what worked the first time around. I have this ominous feeling that Kirby Smart is really tempted to eschew that and double down on what got him where he is this season. If that’s the case, I suppose the wake-up call is for players only.
And if that’s where things wind up, with the same results, I don’t think Georgia fans are going to vent their frustration in Stetson’s direction. He’ll just be playing the hand Smart dealt him.

sadly I'm pretty sur ethat's exactly what's going to happen. You can hear it plain as day in hearing him speak, and in fact hearing him speak after ANY loss we've had in his tenure. "we just gotta execute. Put guys in better position to make plays. We had some opportunities out there we just need to do a better job at capitalizing" etc. etc. In other words, the coaches gameplanned fine it's just up to the players to actually do it.
Ther'es been a handful of game breakdowns the last few days that show the outcome wasn't AS BAD as the score would indicate. Essentially, take away both stetson's interceptions (1 in the redzone so let's call that a 3 point swing at least, 1 was a 7 pointer for them) and have nolan recover the fumble (7 scored there) and hell that's a 17 point swing just right htere. My biggest fear is tha tKirby is giong to look at that on film and go "well shite! All we gotta do is tweak the defense and let Stetson get in a better flow and we got this"

To be fair, if the D plays to their potential And actually sacks Bryce one good time we have a shot at keeping them around 24 points. Can stet and the O get to 27? That’s the question.

Not to overlook Michigan, by any stretch, but I'm usually pretty upbeat when it's come to playing Bama this year. I can't say I'm as confident at the prospect of a rematch in the CFP championship game because I have seen literally nothing from Kirby as a gameday coach to indicate that he knows what needs to change to be able to close against Bama.

I doubt I will ever understand what in the frick kirby was doing with the game plan from the first half. Based on teh first 12 games of the season, we definitely have a chnce to contain them if we do what we have always done

definitely the big question. I also don't really like having to face the greatest coach in the history of the sport in a 1-off championship game, but I guess crazier things have happened.

Don't understand this at all. He didn't double down when we played Auburn twice in 2017. We came out different on offense and defense.
I would be surprised if he does the same thing, personally. Who knows?
Hopefully we'll have the chance to find out.

It looked as if we thought we could get to Young by rushing 3 or 4 players. We didn't. Their OLine played (probably) the best game they had played all year. Either played over their heads, or they improved greatly in a weeks time. I am more prone to believe they played out of their minds for one game.....it's hard to make that kind of improvement in one week that is a lasting improvement unless they all just jelled at the same time.
Hopefully we get after Young by rushing 5-6 players and hope our DBs can stay with their receivers for 2-3 seconds. They will hit some big plays. No way around that. It's going to happen. But sack Young early and often and have him running for his life.
Can it be done? Yes. Will it be done?

This time Kirby will go for the ultimate mind fyck.
Last time we were in this situation we switched it up, so thats what Saban will expect. NOT SO FAST
No changes made. Saban game planned for the wrong Thang.

I was stunned that the D didn't rush at least 5 on every play. Makes me believe we tried to steal one and show them nothing.

It’s so incredibly hard to believe this but I thought the exact same thing. Going into halftime down 7 and all the commentators were saying Bama was in the playoffs regardless of what happened in the second half, and then you hear Kirby before going into the locker room, super subdued like he was just going through the motions. Something just didn’t feel right.

It's so hard to go into a contest knowing you have a mulligan. Then add to it Bama was playing basically an elimination playoff game.
Recipe for disaster. And that's what we got.

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It's getting hard to be someone
But it all works out
It doesn't matter much to me
Let me take you down, 'cuz we're going too...
