still have a chance of getting into playoffs and we will see what happens. The effort of the program to win championships is there, with money and everything that goes with it. Dawgs are close to winning a championship, this year next year or the next years. Not trying to pump smoke, just reset and get ready for Mich or Cin. and a rematch. The one good thing about yesterday is Dawgs don't have to beat Bama but once now

I would imagine it’s Michigan in the Cotton Bowl

This is true.
It’s also true that there’s a wide gulf between us and number one. A gulf that it does not appear we’re going to narrow anytime soon.

Not so fast. ND lost by 3. We by how much?

Notre Damne lost by 11, at home to a group of 5 team. They have 0 wins vs anyone ranked in the CFP/AP/COACHES

I don't agree with your overall take on the game yesterday, but I do agree with your outlook on the playoffs.
Yesterdays loss was bad optically. It is not a given that we make the playoffs. maybe we do, but if people think the ND loss to Cincinnati will keep them out of the playoffs, they are wrong. Cincinnati (probably) is a playoff team.
Not playing in a conference championship game will not keep them out of it, either. They lost one last year and made it, and have made it a couple of times in the past.
Their past performance in the playoffs will not keep them out. Last years results do not affect this years decisions.
Hopefully we make the playoffs and take another crack at them. But it is certainly not a given.
The media and committee has proven their love for ND.

Was there a wide gulf in between us and Auburn in 2017?
Our fans need to stop overreacting to one game.

It’s not one game, dude. It’s four. Four times.
And it’s not getting closer, it’s getting more lopsided with each passing meeting.
You can call it one game if you want, but if the goal is a national championship, we need to look in the mirror and address the fact that we’re just not close to Alabama right now and that’s not changing in the near future unless we change something. The current course is not working against them.

Are you saying change course? Like new coach? Because top 5 every year is better than knowing you're in the outback bowl before the season begins.

No. I’m not one of these people who think Kirby is beyond recognizing his shortcomings.
When our offense was pure straight arse in 2019, he made a change at offensive coordinator and made it a point to improve recruiting at the receiver position. The offense has improved.
I’m not smart enough to know exactly what is causing the gap to widen, but something we are doing differently to them is clearly not working. Kirby’s job is to identify it and change it.
Saban adjusted his program to be more offense-focused when he realized that they couldn’t keep up with Ohio State and Clemson and they have once again climbed to the top.

Our best athletes are always on defense. Would be cool to see a shift. That #1 for them. Fuk man. He good.
Also, do we get Manning? Can he scramble?
