errybody pads the numbers...also you'll have so many people enter & exit during the game it's hard to count.

It was the most crowded gday ive ever been to.

It was a pretty decent crowd today. I showed up midway through the first quarter and left before the 4th to go catch some of the Track meet. 46,000+ were probably not all there at the same time.

Another reason it may not have looked like 46k is because people were crammed in those semi-hidden 200 section seats. Sat there myself and it was nice being in the shade. I'd guess there were around 4,000 people in the 200 level.

How does UT draw 68k?

Good question on Tennessee. Obviously those fans are very thirsty for a winner by now, however I have to admit that number is damn impressive.
One explanation that people sometimes forget is that Knoxville is a pretty decent sized place population wise. Metro Athens is just under 200k (the city and the surrounding suburbs), metro Knoxville (city and suburbs) is close to 900k.
They essentially have a million people withing 25 minutes of their stadium. Definitely helps them with things like spring games and basketball games where most fans in attendance are local.

There seemed to be more than 1500 people over last year. It was great...

Simple really. They have a coach that excites the fanbase for the first time in 5ish years, and last year gave them something to be excited about for the first time in just as long. Also, that number seems high but in reality it's roughly 63% of their stadium. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either. And I mean hell what else would there be to do in the area that day?

They had about 20 EE's too that a lotta people wanted to see. They think those 35 freshmen & that QB with no eyebrows can win the SEC this year...
