since it’s Palm Sunday, what is your reading on why Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem on this day instead of a horse? Its my favorite part of the story from today, but Ive heard differing takes on it.
I believe that was to fulfil a prophecy.

I've been a believer in Vandagriff. Everyone has assumed he's gonna transfer out with Stockton taking over after Beck, but I still got a feeling he's gonna push Beck for the starting gig.
As for the donkey...well, I think it had something to do with humility. You would never expected a king to come riding in to town on a lowly donkey. God, throughout the Bible, always chose the unlikely and unassuming to do great things for Him. He chose a donkey to carry him, but look who he chose to follow him and carry His gospel throughout the world after he was gone; a bunch of uneducated fishermen that probably couldn't read or write and didn't have a handful of pocket change between them.
David was a just a shepherd boy, but he took down a giant. Gideon was a wheat farmer, but he led 300 men against the entire Philistinian army. Mary was a lowly nobody married to a carpenter, but God found favor in her. The list goes on and on. When I was pastoring once, I preached a sermon called; 'You don't have to be a PhD, just a jackass.' lol Referencing donkeys doing big things in the Bible. I referenced Balaam's donkey that saved that prophet's life and I referenced Jesus riding into town on a donkey and brought out some of these same points. One of my more memorable sermon titles...lol.

Absolutely. There was a prophecy from 500 years before Jesus was even born. That the messiah would ride into the city on a donkey. A foal colt.
I was asking more about the symbolism part though. I’ve heard it that Jesus chose the lowly donkey because of its humble nature and lowly status. Since he was the peasant king of, with, and for the people. Not over the people. But Ive also heard it that in Jesus’s time on earth, donkeys were actually ridden by royal earthly Kings, but only in peace time. Riding a horse was during times of war and conflict. Jesus as the Prince of Peace chose to ride the donkey . Even though he knew he was marching into a place where his enemies very much had declared war on him.
I like both. Just wondering what Pastor Darin thinks.

Yes, it did fulfill an old testament prophecy; Zechariah chapter 9, speaking of a king riding a humble donkey.

Im sorry I asked you to post pics of your wife’s boobs. You had to be vetted and now everything checks out.
Thanks for taking the time to thoughtfully answer my question. Extra points also for seeing through Beck.

He has passed phase 1 of hazing.
Phase 2:
Darin, in 2021 when people were saying we were saving JT Daniels for the Florida game, but then Stetson Bennett was named the starter for the Florida game, how did you feel? What was going through your mind?

And especially absurd when you have to say it to a Pastor. Sheesh
On the donkey thing before we start boring the Godless commies on here, did you know that all donkeys everywhere, like the one that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to his eventual crucifixion , all have crosses on their backs?
Hmmmm

Now I finally know how to tell the difference between a donkey and a mule.

I think someone told me once about that cross thing. That's amazing. And uh, don't worry about the pic thing, I knew you were just playing around. I'm just glad I'm in the club now!

The truth is, when Bennett came into the program I had a feeling he was gonna end up being a good player for us, just because he put up staggering numbers in HS. So, I assumed he was a player that had gotten overlooked because of his small size. After we lost to Bama in the SECCG, I'll have to admit, I remember getting down on him and telling someone; "I just don't understand how Smart recruits so well at every position, but a former 2-star kid is the best we can do at QB?! We're never gonna win any championships until we can get some true 5-star studs at QB!" But that really was soured emotions speaking.
After he threw those 2 TDs in the 4th quarter of the natty game against Bama, I remember telling my boys, 'Any QB that can lead a comeback like that against Bama on the grandest stage in college football with EVERYTHING riding on it has got my complete and undivided respect.'

Weelll, mules can also have that cross on their back, sorry.
Mules do tend to be taller since they are part horse. But... Donkeys tend to have a flat back while mules tend to have a slight curve to their back, like a horse.

Come with me I’ll show you where the dogwoods bloom it’s true…
Looks kind of like a cross, doesn’t it? With the bloody nail holes at each end and a crown of thorns in the center?
Uh ah ohh!

FWIW, and not sure if I missed it stated here but mules (male and female) are sterile, something to do with their chromosomes...
