I watched a small clip of the scrimmage on X and I am just gonna say that the concussion helmet covers make it look like a bunch of fricking clowns out there lol. I get the reason and I'm glad we are doing it ...but yikes they look dumb
Reminds me of the basketball video game, can't remember the name, where you could put in a code and give the players massive heads lol

Nate Frazier is getting all the hype. 5'10 210 and run a 10.5 100m. Fastest rb in the 2024 class.

I bet he surpasses one of the Robinson's for #3 early in the season.
A lot of smoke around Q Johnson, too.

R Robinson starting the season limited in a boot is not going to help his case.
As far as Quintavius Johnson, he is still raw but his football IQ as a high school QB and his physical traits will be hard to keep off the field.
Damon Wilson and Sam M’Pemba need to take the next step. If all 3 of these guys are good to great depth behind Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker, then this OLB/Edge unit could be great.
Also, Fr. WR Jeremy Bell is standing out. He won’t start but look for him to contribute at Z.

Practice Notes
- Carson Beck looks like an NFL QB. The processing, the speed with which the ball comes out, his accuracy, and his ball placement have all been elite. He has some superb moments and he has some decent moments but he's not had a real bad stretch at any point. He is ready for a large season.
Behind Beck, Stockton remains the most capable of the 3 other scholarship guys.
- Branson Robinson continues to emerge.
- The OL continues to be the best unit on the team
- Stackhouse and Christen Miller appear to be the likely starters at DT for Clemson unless something changes dramatically in the scrimmage. I'd expect Mykel to be in his usual 4i DE position on 1st and 2nd down, but obviously he can slide outside to line up as an OLB on passing downs. If the season started today, those 3 would be joined by Chambliss or Damon Wilson.
- Behind Stackhouse/Miller at DT right now is Ingram-Dawkins and big Jamaal Jarrett.
- True freshman Quintavius Johnson continues to look like a player at EDGE.
- I was told the young DL's (Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Nasir Johnson, Jordan Thomas, Justin Greene and Nnamdi Ogboko) have been pretty quiet in recent days.
- The top tier of WR's right now are...
Bell - X & Z
Lovett - Slot & a little bit of Z
Colbie Young - X (Young is still rehabbing)
Arian Smith - Z and a little bit of Slot
- The WR group seems to have had a good week after the DB's got the best of them in last week's scrimmage. It has created a healthy challenge for the defensive backs, and given the staff plenty of coaching points.
- The secondary situation for UGA has gotten rather interesting . Aguero has been shaky in coverage against some of the wideouts, so Jacorey Thomas is being ramped up at STAR and will be an option if things trend negatively with Aguero.
- The CB spots have gotten a little more interesting over the last few days as well. It seems like Daniel Harris is pushing Humphrey hard and five-star #1 Class of 2024 CB Ellis Robinson IV has turned it on as well. My guess would be that Smart defers to seniority and either Harris or Humphrey starts vs Clemson, but it sure feels like Ellis is going to demand snaps this year.
- Oscar Delp continues to have a really nice camp at TE. He has asserted himself as the #1 guy heading into the season. Benjamin Yurosek is still trying to adjust to the speed and physicality of Georgia's fall camp. He's also trying to take in a ton of information about the playbook and the technique UGA's staff prefers. At this moment, it feels like Lawson Luckie is solidly in the #2 TE role in front of him.

I thought Kyron Jones was training at STAR and Thomas was training at safety. Not sure I'm buying all of Graham's information in that post.

Going into this scrimmage, which is the dress rehearsal, here’s an update based on the buzz.
I anticipate Jared Wilson getting a lot of run at C this scrimmage. Staff has to see him handle the physicality and they’ll continue the load management strategy following the scrimmage. Wilson has increased his reps this week, still in a black jersey, but this is an indicator he’s going to play a lot Saturday. If something happens in the scrimmage that causes a significant setback, Tate will be the starter at C. Morris will fill plug in at G. As long as Tate can snap consistently, I don’t feel this is a big drop off at OL; it’s certainly not an upgrade because Wilson can get out into space on the screen game, and should be able to climb to the second level easier than Tate. From a pure power aspect, hard to beat Tate, Morris, and Fairchild in the middle. What to watch for at RT is the rep share between Truss and Freeling. If they split reps with the ones evenly, that buzz that recently was said on Freeling will be proven accurate before the season starts. That was that Freeling would be the starter by Bama. Typically in dress rehearsal, starters will easily pull 2/3 reps with the ones. 50/50 speaks volumes, if that happens. Earnest Greene, Jared Wilson, and Fairchild are your cemented starters for the season. If healthy, they will not move out of the lineup. The twos at OL consist of Marques Easley (has moved up) at RG, Daniel Calhoun LG, & Drew Bobo (technically a 3 at C). Ongoing battle between Bo Hughley and Jamal Meriweather who have been repping T with the twos. Meriweather appears to have the advantage going into the scrimmage. Freeling is officially with the twos and would swap with Truss when that occurs. Meriweather and Hughley rep both tackle spots. Nyier Daniels splits reps with the twos and threes, and with Easley moving up, this may push Daniels down towards more of the threes. Harrison is still primarily with the threes and he’s been battling some ailments. Fully anticipate him getting some reps with the twos Sat.
At RB, the key is does Etienne take that first rep this Saturday. If he does, he’s playing Saturday. Next, does the buzz continue on Frazier? If it does, he’s going to firmly be built into the Clemson game plan. 8-10 touches opening week against a marquee opponent. How many reps does Branson get Saturday and how does he look? At worst, Branson will be the first hammer/Thunder option against Clemson. Rod Rob will be available, but he will be deliberately held out of staff can go without him. He is not expected to scrimmage. They want that toe healthy and Rod Rob will be a significant part of our offense as well. At 233 lbs currently, he’s the mass mover, the body blow deliverer. Cash Jones will be next in front of Bowens. He's made plays this camp and I’m pretty sure Clemson will see a 21 package. I will not be over sharing though…just don’t ignore Cash there.
WR is simple. Colbie Young…soft tissue things can linger. We need him ready to roll. Anthony Evans…show us that you possess the most talent in the room. Take advance of the the 3-4 opportunities he will get. Earn more opportunities by being a playmaker. We have plenty others of course, but these two stand to benefit considerably with Rara exiting. They’re secondary only to Lovett getting more targets as a result of Rara. I watched his highlights recently. He did have some clutch chain moving catches last year with a couple explosives. Young and Evans must make up for his loss. Got plenty other unproven weapons but these two will carry the water.
TEs. Oscar Delp has turned a corner and is the man in that room. It has been said that he is Beck’s second target from a source who would know. He’s not coming off the field much. Yurosek does well in finding holes in the defense and is a big, experienced target. Luckie is the up and comer, and while he hasn’t had the same level of buzz as he did last year, he’s been consistent as well. What’s the rep share between Luckie and Yurosek? Based on the buzz, I think Yurosek will get 2/3 of those 12 personnel reps with the ones. Reddell will play some, they really love his blocking and he creates a mismatch. Size wise, he’s the one who looks comparable to Delp. However with the way Delp has been playing, this will limit Reddell’s reps this season. I still wouldn’t anticipate a redshirt. Reddell will play. Heinrich will RS.
At DL, it’s a lot of shuffling. Brinson being limited has allowed the young guys to get reps and multiple have impressed. TID and Stack are the solidified starters at their respective spots. Christian Miller may move Brinson to second string. Even then, X Mcleod and Jordan Thomas have had great camps so far. They’re all going to play and we might see all four against Clemson. Miller has the edge going into the scrimmage and again, how many reps with the ones? If it’s 2/3, we know…JJA has taken more reps than Gabe Harris this camp. Just about health for Gabe and I’m not certain he’s going to be ready for Clemson if he is available. JJA and Justin Green have done well this camp. With Mykel still repping DE at times, could see TID/Mykel, then JJA this scrimmage. You have to like this group against Clemson OL and hopefully Harris can get right.
At OLB, Mykel leads the way with Jalon Walker right there. Think of Walker as a freelance defender without a real room. He’s just going to be on the field with Mykel as much as they can. Wilson and Chaz Chambliss are going to split reps with the 1s and 2s, but mostly 2s. I love glue guys that don’t have an abundance of talent because I find that relatable but it’s going to be damn hard to keep Damon Wilson on ff the field. Buzz on Wilson is that he has also turned the corner and I was told a few days ago the hardest thing a coach said was getting Mykel, Walker, and Wilson on the field together because that needs to happen. Chaz will continue to play but Wilson and Walker are special talents. Q. Johnson has surpassed Sam M’Pemba and is eating reps from the other guys as well. He is another one that staff wants to get a long look at this Saturday. He’s going to get a few reps with the ones. He’ll have his hand in the dirt some with the twos. We got us a player here gang. I’m told he brings the most thump of all the OLBs and that includes Mykel. Physicality will get you on the field fast at UGA.
Daniel Harris leads CB2 going into the scrimmage. He is battling Humphrey. I’m told Ellis Robinson will not beat our Harris this year. Humphrey is the best athlete of the bunch, but coaches stay on him about being more physical and he’s still panicky with the ball in the air. Harris recently shut down Bell in a practice, but to be balanced, Harris has been cooked this camp as well. Whoever CB2 is; look for them to get baptized this weekend and season similar to Everette. Everette, Aguero, Starks, and Dan Jackson have cemented themselves as starters for Clemson. Jacorey Thomas is now running with the twos at Star, bumping Kyron Jones down. KJ Bolden with the twos at S with Demello Jones repping at CB and S splitting between twos and threes. It is time for Justyn Rhett and Kyron Jones to step up. Peal is developing

Well, I'm not upset if Jacorey plays STAR because he seems to have the skills for it. But there will be a learning curve and plenty of screw ups..

The stuff about Quintavius is a pleasant surprise. I looked at all of his videos and found very few where he was lined up at the DE position. I even watched a good bit of a 2024 game on youtube and he was mostly lined up wide like a defensive back for some strange reason.
As for Cash Jones being ahead of Bowens, they're kind of different RB's. Jones obviously knows the offense and has quickness, but when it comes to running between the tackles, I'll take Bowens. And assuming he works hard on his blocking skills, I'll take Bowens for protecting the quarterback too.

Cash probably benefiting from knowing the playbook much better than Bowens and probably pass pros better. Doubt either one get significant snaps on a weekly basis though.

The OL continues to be the best unit on the team

Roderick, Hall, Young, Brinson and McCloud didn’t practice. Gabe Harris was in a non-contact jersey. Probably the biggest and best note is that UGA had no new injuries.
- Jared Wilson was back today scrimmaging. That’s a big piece of good news for UGA.
Offense
- Lots of rotation today, right from the opening drive. Read what you want into that, but I read it as UGA feeling pretty good about its first teams and really wanting to build depth behind them.
- One of those players is Nitro Tuggle. He is progressing quickly and had a nice day that included a TD over Ellis Robinson at one point. He’s getting open a lot and creating good releases on offense.
- The 1’s on offense look very sharp. Beck is in control and even without Young in there the WR group was really impressive today. Georgia has real deal playmakers all over the field. They rotated a lot of depth in with the first team today.
- Lovett had some good catches working underneath and over the middle. He hooked up with Beck on a 10-yard slant over the middle at one point.
- Dillon Bell had a good day at X, and it included a 30-yard TD pass from Beck. Humphrey in coverage.
- If there’s another unit on the team that looks great besides the OL then it’s the RB’s. Even with no Roderick they looked good. Etienne and Branson continue to look like an excellent thunder and lightning type duo.
- Frazier was excellent today. He took a 40-yard TD run to the house and went totally untouched.
Defense
- No plays were blown dead for sacks, so hard to tell or say just how good some of the pass rushing guys looked.
- That LB group was pretty good today but also missed a run fit that let Frazier bust a long TD. Staff is coaching them hard and trying to get them really honed in before the season gets here.
- DL was described to me as being still questionable at times.
- M’Pemba played a lot of snaps at EDGE, particularly on early downs. He looked good. Dropped into coverage early in the practice and put a big hit on Nate Frazier as the ball arrived. He is explosive.
- DB’s looked good in coverage but need to keep tackling better and getting off blocks.
- Freshman Jordan Thomas had a solid day on the DL. He had a couple TFL’s and shot into the backfield to wrap up RB’s on both.
- Jared Wilson was back today scrimmaging. That’s a big piece of good news for UGA.

Nitro is a new X factor player who could top out just as high as Ladd McConkey or Adoni Mitchell.
You really can't coach or teach the natural moves that he brings to the equation.

How many scrimmages are you allowed to have in fall? Or is it totally up to the coaches?

They have 3. Don’t know if that’s a rule but the number of total practices is.
