I hear you but, think about this, if we win out and make it to the playoff (having beat Bama (especially by over a TD)), the message will then be, "The SEC is down across the board". It still stinks because we get no respect because we are in the east.
Personally, I couldn't care less about the respect we get if we're in the playoff. All you have to do is win two games and you're the national champion. Underestimated teams like Clemson last year, Texas in 06, and Ohio State in 07 earned respect by winning.
On top of that, if we beat Bama, we'll get respect.

Get use to it. ND has a huge fan base so lots more $$ for the playoffs if they make it in.
yet our fanbase took over their stadium

I agree but I doubt if the committee will see it that way unless 2 of the conference champions and ND have 2 losses. But it would really piss me off in 1 loss ND got in over Georgia after we beat them in South Bend.

I don't see it happening that way...we win the head to head...somebody on that committee would bring that up...likely several of them.....but the truth has been spoken...win out..we are in!

Really? Who won the National Championship last year?
Clemson right? If they had won "respect" they should have been placed at #1 in the AP but look at the facts below.
2017 AP POLL
WEEK 1
#1-ALABAMA
#3-CLEMSON
WEEK 2
#1-ALBAMA
#3-CLEMSON
WEEK 3
#1-ALABAMA
#3-CLEMSON
WEEK 4
#1-ALBAMA
#2-CLEMSON
WEEK 5
#1-ALBAMA
#2-CLEMSON
WEEK 6
#1-ALBAMA
#2-CLEMSON
WEEK 7
#1-ALBAMA
#2-CLEMSON
Even after 7 weeks of winning and a poor showing from Bama against A&M in week 6 they couldn't unseat Bama from the #1 spot.
You have to win two years in a row at least to begin to get the respect Bama gets. Look at Florida...they still get a nod against us in some conversations. Auburn is still favored against us this year and they have lost a game to a team that lost to Troy. We beat them regularly! NO RESPECT!

While I agree, some committee members would cite ND's excellent strength of schedule and the fact that they only lost by 1 point to Georgia. Just playing Devil's Advocate.....

And if you are going to lose, lose early in the season which ND did.
A loss late in the season hurts much worse IMHO.

Uga only 26%. I would say their schedule on out is easier.

I’m sure that had nothing to do with Clemson losing Deshaun and Bama bringing in their 4th straight #1 recruiting class

We have different definitions of poor showings, but it also appears the polls got it right based on records so far.
Clemson is ranked ahead of undefeated teams and is the top 1 loss team despite losing to a 4-4 Syracuse team. I’d say they’re still getting respect.

Then where is the benefit of winning the NC? My opinion is you get the benefit of the doubt. They just won the NC and they’ve been recruiting well too. Alabama lost yet they climbed a notch during the off season? Clemson deserved that respect because they earned it, but that proves my point regarding our team. We’d have to win it all twice back to back.

There's an easy solution. Don't lose in the regular season and beat Bama for the title. Then there are no arguments. Too many times in the past we'd blow a game when we were in the discussion. That's why many don't believe in us. Let's start with kicking Florida's arse.

The benefit is seen in subsequent rankings. They have been higher in the rankings than they otherwise would have been.

"Deserves" and "Will Be" are two drastically different things... it's going to take a perfect storm in order for it to happen... *OR* we would need to be ranked #1 in CFP rankings going into it, so that they can still drop us 2 spots to #3 and not immediately rematch Bama/UGA in round 1 of the CFP... I don't see any scenario where they setup a rematch in round 1, even though it would mandate that only one SEC team makes it into the national championship and that might be preferable.

Since the poster was talking about deserving, that's what I was talking about. I have no doubt we will be left out if we lose on a Hail Mary vs what might be the best Bama of the saban era.

Exactly.
Strength of schedule can be thrown out when comparing two teams that have played.
SOS is only calculated when comparing two teams that haven't played.

The benefit is winning the freaking national championship.
Shouldn’t really have that much to do with the following season.

Personally I think if we lose to Bama we're screwed. There will be a lot of other one loss teams in the mix that will be jockeying for position....that HAVEN'T just played a CFP team and got eliminated.
The SECCG is almost like an "at large" playoff game anyway with Bama in the mix. We gotta beat them one way or the other. Might as well do it in Atl.
Obviously this is all just happy talk at this point. FL is next up.

Much easier said than done. The last SEC to run the table was Auburn in '10 and they had close calls with Clemson,Kentucky and MSU
It'll be very difficult to win out even with the conference being somewhat down this year.
