“I did go to Colbie's apartment late at night to talk to him about our relationship and my pregnancy," the woman said in the affidavit. "Colbie asked me to leave more than once while I was there. I did not leave until I became upset with him and did not think our conversation was productive.

"Colbie did not place his hands on me in any way during the conversation and argument that was inappropriate or unwanted. He did not hit me. He did not push me. He did not cause any bruising or marks on me. He did not injure me in any way."

Thoughts?

Somebody with two brain cells told her Colbie won't be able to pay child support if he doesn't have money, and your claim of abuse is denying him money.

So she's retracting it.

From a university perspective, if the cops drop the charges after talking with her, and their own detectives indeed believe she made the whole thing up in a rage, then please reinstate colbie.

Also make her suffer for lying in the first place. Problem with that, in general, is when a bitch goes crazy and makes up a lie that gets the man in jail, she'll be hesitant to retract if she knows her own arse will be in jail for making up a story.

Very complex.

That’s all assuming she’s lying, it’s pretty common in domestic violence situations that the abused person will try to retract their statements either due to fear of more violence or sympathy for the abuser. Theres a reason why so many women choose to stay with their abuser

All you can go on is the word of the non abused.

If they say it didn't happen well then that is it.

This case is dead. Her affidavit was a stake through the heart of it. Only question is will he be reinstated and if so, when.

Good news for Young but Kirby will probably not be in a hurry to reinstate him due to the controversy.

Huge if he gets reinstated. Would be unfair for Young to not be if the charges are dropped.

At the point it is dropped, UGA would be the damaging party by not reinstating him.

Why is this being downvoted so hard? If others are speculating about "what really happened," this one would probably be the betting favorite. What OP described is a national epidemic

Because all you say is absolutely correct, but it doesn't matter one iota now. Now all we have is a sworn affidavit from the lady saying it never happened. It could be true or false. No one knows except her and him and they are both saying it didn't It is what it is.

The cops can't drop the charges. It's a judicial matter now.

Actually in these cases the intial evidence forces them to move forward. The prosecution can choose to not move forward or court could eventually toss it out.

I doubt UGA does anything until either of those happens.

You realize they can deny all of that..... bruises are from something else etc....

He was at home minding his business when a crazy person came to his house and didn't want to leave.
