Never listened to him, but looks like a radio guy

What was your opinion of Munson then?

Munson had a rare talent for writing a newspaper column with his mouth on the fly. He didn’t call a game, he described it and his voice gave it the gravitas that turned it into a full performance akin to a Sunday sermon.

Scott just doesn’t have the same talent for making those calls on the fly - but then very few people alive do anymore. I like Scott for basketball, same as I love Dave and Jeff for baseball. Jeff could be an interesting choice for football but it’s a different pace of gameplay and relaying a lot of detail. The talent in calling baseball games is filling a lot of dead air.

Munson had the ability to make you nervous up by 35 vs Vandy in the 4th Quarter.

I'm going to miss Zeier. I talked to Eric a few years ago at the pre-grame show. I didn't really know him when we were in school together, but I was really impressed with how friendly and supportive he was in our conversation. He was a great color analyst and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up going to one of the major networks. He was working for Bank of America so he probably has a lot of professional gigs he can do. Agree on Howard but he had such a tough job to replace Munson. Clemson and SC had the same problem with Jim Phillips and Bob Fulton retired. We grew up with some great radio and TV announcers.

Good dude for sure, met him at Sons of Italy or Steverinos many years ago, can't remember which one as they were side by side back then.

He had a beer with us and spoke with us. Pretty sure he was playing for the falcons then.

Howard did a good job to not call out the Tech coach for crying after the 8 OT win. Imagine most Tech fans turned it off and didn’t realize their coach was crying on Kirby’s shoulder. Not a few tears either. Poor guy was balling. I imagine it’s gonna be hard to come back from being so broken. Still, class act by Howard and Zier to not point out he was a crying sissy. Especially after blowing the game time and time again. That’s going to be a deep wound.

Clean Old Fashioned Hate still applies. Kirby better take note as they are beyond nipping.

Kirby and the announcer team were class acts.

I would have had DJ confirm the head nerd was crying like a baby and remind the listening audience what a shithead Bobby Dodds was before stirring the rivalry pot as much as possible.... Again COFH.

Yah, definitely good dude. When I was in school he had a reputation for being cocky. I knew some guys that golfed with him and he was a real ace golfer and would take those guys on the course. When I met him he was nothing but nice and supportive as fellow Terry College Alum.

Old Donnan lived to golf. He would come up and talk to us like anyone else. I respected that.

When he first came to Athens, I was in Grad School, but was around the team still in a capacity. He was young and the next coming when he set foot in Athens and had not been humbled and he acted like it. I think he was like 17 for that first Spring practice. I was probably the same way, so not judging. He had a few run ins and almost was murdered by a very large bar owner, for which he owes his life to a few of us. I think a few years of maturity and being humbled some changed his reputation. At least for most people. He really was good for a bald guy.

Scott Howard comes across more as a cheerleader than a professional commentator calling the game

In fairness, its college. Not the NFL.

You can be a homer on college broadcasts.

Yah, Pete Buck, we must have run in some of the same circles in Athens. I started school in 90. I remember Zeier was also a really good student and graduated early and started UGA early. I had a bunch of friends in frats and they told me how Zeier came on to campus with a "presence". But he's a smart guy. I started school a full year before he did and he was in my Terry College graduating class Fall of '94.

I assume the reference to Jeff is Jeff Dantzler. I think I heard he was really pushing to be the color guy when Eric came on. I think Jeff probably had to pull some strings to keep his job after the DUI and then the reference to the color of women's clothing. It seems like those 2 incidents have kept Jeff from moving up. I lreally like Danztler - he has tremendoius radio delivery and great knowlege of UGA football and UGA history.
