$50 to a site called league safe. There is a small fee $3. So $53. They hold the dough.
If you finish in the money you get a check mailed to you.

There's a live online draft. You select the best team possible.
How your team performs on the field will determine your points.
Good players drafted plus no major injuries equals a good year for you.
Example:
Matt Ryan is your qb. He lights up the Carolina d for 400 yards and 4 TDs on Sunday.
You would get roughly 45 points or so for your fantasy team.

I did a little research on league safe.
Everyone must pay before funds are released. So in other words we need to bump the due date up before the draft date. That may already be the case I don't know I haven't looked at it.

How does the draft work - i.e. how is order decided, what are the mechanics of the draft post order, a snake - that is the fairest.

You enter a draft "portal" and yahoo sets the order randomly about 10 mins or so before the draft starts on a clock that is counting down. Then it's a snake. In a ten team league the team that gets the 2nd pick has the 19th pick in the 2nd.
