Do we really even need a basketball team? I’m being serious.

Gonna suck if Tech gets the Kennesaw guy. They played Gonzaga tougher than we did a #9 seed

does every here still think making the tournament is some great accomplishment now?

I mean as an 8 seed you didn't back in with a bad team, to get destroyed epically while the team throws up bad shot after bad shot with substantial time on the shot clock and gets routed by a mid major whose athletic budget is a rounding error for UGA and they had a coach new to 1-a bball, was worse than not making it.
White should resign. It was on him, he didn't even bother to call timeout in the long runs at Louis had to settle the team down. Just let them dribble down and brick up over and over again.

I mean for our program history it is, unfortunately, an accomplishment.
BUT it doesn't outweigh that performance. This season was a failure even with making the tournament

Optics are everything. Lose close. Be frustrated. But you can say “almost”. But lose by 25 after being down as much as 40? You just can’t do that.

To go on a 16-2 run to close out the game, and STILL lose by 25 points, is laughable for a big time program. There’s really no spinning it.

Mike White statement on last night:
He must’ve forgotten that we also lost to 15 seed Ole Miss in the SECT. 2 terrible losses to end a “record breaking” season is a little disheartening.
Oooooof!
quote:
On tonight's performance… "… I did not see that coming. I expected to win the game. These guys have practiced really hard all week, been locked in and in our preparation. We played as disconnected as we've played all season. Really proud of our regular season. We broke records. We did things that have never happened, obviously, in the history of Georgia basketball. But our plan was to come here and play well and compete and advance. Just a tough way to end it."

Coach White supposedly had this team “prepared,” right? Because performances like that suggest otherwise. At some point, you have to wonder if it would be better to miss the tournament entirely than to keep showing up just to get blown out. We also seem to gloss over the loss to 15-seed Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament. Was the team prepared for that game too? The result certainly didn’t reflect it.
There’s simply no excuse for being down 40 to a mid-major in the NCAA Tournament. None.
Yes, this is the NIL era, and some will argue that points to a program on the rise. But let’s be honest, that has very little to do with coaching. The resources are there. Funding isn’t the problem. The problem is Coach White.
If the administration is serious about basketball, it needs to move on and start fresh. No one wants to watch this team get run off the floor in March, and unfortunately, that’s become a pattern under his leadership.

I thought the game was 50/50 to begin with and would have been fine with a close loss.
That loss was so bad it killed Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris just died, too.

Ole miss loss was bad but at least we made a run and then they beat Bama afterwards so looked like it was a case of a hot team

There’s literally no reason Georgia should not have a good basketball team year in and year out. I know it’s been discussed on here before, but until the administration gets really serious about basketball, with coaching certainly being a part of that equation, things are likely not going to change.

$10-12 million budget and $3 million in NIL and we rank 112th in tournament wins since 1990.

Big time?
Georgia is a big time football program. It might barely qualify as an also-ran in basketball.

I agree with you, totally inexcusable. Anytime the other team has twice as many points as your team in the second half (65-32), that's an arse whooping for the ages.

Every other sec team has one, which makes last night even more crazy. We have talent and have been battle tested and still just shite the bed and look uninterested
