All of these police shootings in the news lately could have been easily prevented if these idiots would stop robbing convenience stores, selling illegal cigarettes, resisting arrest, etc. Don't want trouble with the police? Don't break the law. Holy shite, what a complicated concept!
Posted on 12/29/14 at 5:44 pm to VADawg
I agree, selling untaxed cigarettes should result in capital punishment.

Don't break the law, police won't have a reason to even talk to you. I have no sympathy for these criminals. Resist arrest at your own risk.

If you don't appreciate the police, don't call them when your arse gets robbed.
VADawg is a moron.

The DEA fricked that one up by using a drug addicted inmate as a reliable informant.
Posted on 12/29/14 at 5:50 pm to VADawg
The DEA was not involved. Get a fricking clue.

SWAT team. Fine. All police suck and they should be disbanded. Happy?

By the way...105 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2013.
Of course, most die in traffic accidents and such. The number killed by suspects is a small percentage.

Everybody wants the cops to all hang their heads when one bad cop does something wrong...
They should - when you're given the powers that they have over average citizens, as a group, you need to be very careful policing your own. Of course, DAs are pretty bad about not charging the bad ones, but that's a different point.

but why doesn't everybody stand up and pat them on the back every time they do something good?
Because they're big boys and girls doing a job for a paycheck (that the public picks up the tab for). When they go above and beyond the call, they usually get some additional praise.
quote:
when the vast majority of them are out there wanting to protect us?
Where do you get that statistic? Most are out there to get a check and come home alive. The Supreme Court already ruled they have no duty to protect - mostly, they're there to investigate what happened after its over.
And they are just like everyone else - a mixed bag of good, bad, and indifferent.

Those two policemen should be fired immediately. Their CO told them not to do something, they did it anyways, and this happened. It's a sad story. And it's way, way, way different than what happened in Missouri or Staten Island.

You sit here and shite on the police, yet if you get robbed or in a car accident I guarantee you will call 911. So would every one of those idiot police protestors in Missouri and NYC.
I've never been in a car accident.
My Wife has though.
She was pregnant at the time and rear ended at a stop light by a Female State Cop in an Expedition.
The Cop said her breaks locked up. Funny thing, I worked for Ford and pulled the VIN, it had anti-lock breaks and there were no skid marks either.
Witnesses say the Cop was on her in car CPU not paying attention. Amazingly in NC Cops lawfully are not allowed to write each other tickets for car accidents. Police in NC do not carry insurance. They have a bond held by the State...
Starting to get the picture here?
So we had to pay for all repairs, rentals, medical bills, lawyer fee's upfront.
We had to sue the State to get the above repaid. We were "awarded" @ $10K by the State for "injuries".
My unborn child had the myelin knocked off her nerves very similar to shaken baby syndrome. So my four year old little girl is Special Needs.
So tell me again how the Police protect me? Tell there is equal justice and protection under the law?

There is one fact that's very telling. Many applicants for employment as police are disqualified because they are too smart. The US Supreme Court has ruled that such a policy is not discrimination.
Politicians want to have a force of dim but obedient enforcers who will follow orders without question.
There are exceptions to the general rule that cops are idiots but they're rare.

Let me give you a dose of reality. You said "Don't break the law, police won't have a reason to talk to you."
Many go out of their way to be assholes because they can. I am 44 years old and have never seen the inside of a police station but I call BS on your statement because I know from experience what a billy bad arse wanna be with a badge and a gun likes to do.
I will assume even if you did not go to school at UGA that you are at least familiar with the Downtown area. When I was 25, I lived in a loft above a bar on E. Clayton. Right across from where Compadres restaurant used to be. I worked at the Longhorn at Beechwood Shopping center. After closing the restaurant one night, I drove downtown to my parking area by The Classic Center and was walking to my loft wearing my my Longhorn shirt and hat. Just walking home from work to take a damn shower. I got to the corner of E. Clayton and Jackson St, about 20 yards from the street side door that was the coded entryway to the 2nd level. When I got to the little intersection there was a police car sitting there waiting for the light to turn green. I had a "walk" sign and as I started across in front of him he pushed forward a few feet to make me adjust my route. As he did so, the light turned green for him and I just stopped to let him pass by. But instead, he slammed it in park and jumped out of his car barking at me like a mad man. I immediately noticed two college aged girls sitting in his front seat giggling. This dude was no older than 27 and looked like the dictionary image of drill sergeant. Stetson hat down over his eyes, and roided out. He jumped up in my face like a drill sergeant addressing an enlisted at boot camp. Spitting in my face as he yelled "Are you stupid boy! I am asking you a question you dumb arse! " This kind of dressing down went on for about 30 seconds. I guess I am fortunate enough to be intelligent enough to know not to incite this mad man with government sanction so I just replayed with no sir and yes sir. He ended with "Now be on your way!" Girls were cracking up in his car as I "got on my way."
Don't tell me there are not cops who don't abuse their power. I know there are more good than bad and some I call friends. Thank a God I saw him walk in 2 weeks later for lunch. He got what he deserved I can assure you. And I let him know after he ate.

So one case goes to the supreme court for an applicant being turned down for high IQ and now this is gospel.
I've seen it all.

Just in case you were wondering....they also have a minimum acceptance in that particular case. 20-27 being the range of test scores they like to see for their applicants.
Every police force has different requirements and testing. Just because you seen one case in New London Connecticut about how they like to have a certain range of scores on their test doesn't make that a nationwide mandate.
Get real

I don't recall him saying there are no bad apples.
Guess what, I work as an Network Engineer for the government and even we have bad apples. I've known military members that commit burglaries and sex crimes. Generals that sleep with enlisted females. The list goes on and on. What we have is a bad apple bringing negative attention to the police that is undeserved. No one likes to work at a place where everyone gets punished because of one shite head but we all have to deal with that every where we go because heaven forbid the idiot get the blame.
Recent story, someone downloaded malware on a computer at work. We can no longer use that network because of that one idiot. Punish the group instead of the idiot. Standard American procedure.

How many dogs died?
From dogpile:
2013 statistics
32 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2013. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 78% (25) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.

Here is my favorite example of police stupidity.
In the early 1970s a hippie friend on mine was driving through Alabama bringing a pound of pot to Atlanta. My friend, Jackson, didn't have his drivers license when he was stopped for speeding by a state patrolman. The cop asked if Jackson had any kind of ID. Jackson produced his United States passport and gave it to the patrolman. After the cop looked through the passport and saw the eagle on the front he gave it back and let Jackson go saying that he was sorry for the stop but he didn't realize that Jackson was with the government.
