Can Georgia win a natty with Stetson Bennett?

If the answer is no then there’s absolutely no reason to not put in another QB. What do we have to lose? I’d rather take my chances with any of the other 3. At least all 3 of the others have much higher upside, can sling the ball deep, and not have a 50% chance of having their passes batted down due to their height. If you’re not in it for the natty then the game is pointless.

Whether we can or can't with Bennett you don't potentially throw away a season when you're leading your division to develop another QB.
As frustrated as fans might be about that, I'm not so sure the people who hold the purse strings will be super excited about giving up on the season in our position.

The people holding the purse strings have been doing so for a while. We have a lot of division championships. That’s not what they want.

The season is over if you don’t make the chance because the Bama game will be a loss in the SECG.
We all know it.
We all know it.

The answer is no.
And it's not a foregone conclusion that we win the East with Bennett. If we lose to Florida and Florida wins out, we are out. Florida has 1 loss in a close game to a pretty darn good A&M team.

Florida wouldn't have to win out since they'd own the tie breaker, they would have to have 3 losses at that point for us to win the east if we lose to them.
So basically, whoever wins Saturday wins the east

I think you get through UF to lock up the division and then start working on another qb

I mean, it makes sense to me but there’s way more going on behind the scenes that we don’t know.

i tend to agree with you on the micro level and if we were living in a world where there was no future (shite, we might be).
however, in college sports, there is always gonna be value in having a good season. the brand is super important and our brand is right around the top 5 in large part due to our consistency, especially under kirby. that top 5 is super competitive. 1 down year and you might be OK, but beyond that you could be in trouble. you're on TV, you're mentioned in other games, you're in the discussion on every show, you're getting just a metric frick ton of exposure by going 9-2 (this year) versus 7-4 or whatever.
you're trying to constantly build that brand and make decisions that give you both the best chance to win the natty and also remain competitive and in the conversation.
can we win a natty with stetson bennett? no. can we win a natty with dwan mathis? no. can we win a natty with jt daniels? maybe, but none of us know anything about his actual situation.

I hope he wins the Heisman. It would make Kirby look like an idiotic a-hole, and I find comfort in that.

I feel like I'm stating the obvious here but absolutely not. You have to be an all-time homer or Stetson's family to believe so

You play the best QB to win the next game. Coaches watch these guys every week and get paid to win.
I don’t think we can win the natty with Bennett. I’m not sure we win the next the game with anyone else. The other guys apparently aren’t able to play at his level right now.
Why is this so hard to understand?
Mathis didn’t get it done vs Ark. I’m assuming Daniels is still hurt and Beck is a freshman. I don’t know what you gain by putting in a QB that isn’t there yet....just hoping he learns enough to win the game and then maybe gets good enough to keep winning.

Both of the other QBs can throw over the D line and throw deep. Teams have figured out how to stop Stetson. I’d rather take my chances with either one of the other two. Even if they can’t get us where we need to go at least they have advantages that give us a chance. Stetson is limited physically and is only going to get us by mediocre opponents from here on out. We need to be breaking in one of the other guys in the event we play Alabama again.

How in the hell does it make sense to write off Mathis after the first 4 drives in this system for the entire offense? They all had to play themselves into sync and it showed, but he's the only person that's defined by it?
He didn't even play that bad. He was was better than Bennett has been for 6 quarters now.
Mathis won the job. Given a chance he's probably going to be a good player. If Kirby agrees that he doesn't deserve another shot after what we've seen the past game and a half, Mathis should transfer - tomorrow.
ETA - And that's from someone who believes Bennett will improve next week. If a guy plays like that and coach doesn't trust you enough to give you a shot - even though you've put in the work to earn the job first, you should find another team because your coach doesn't believe in you.

We have to make assumptions that the coaches know who is the better option based on more than height and arm strength.
