So, I was gifted a bottle that’s “barrel proof”
-should I keep this in the prepper safe for emergency wound care and/or bartering
-or re-gift it to some douchebag that likes the taste of gasoline and wood?
Feels like a racket. Tastes like shite
Why are you people the way that you are?

Some people like that uncut high octane stuff but I don’t enjoy it. Depending on the label though it could be worth something or at least look good in the cabinet.

Just like coffee and beer for the first time it's an acquired taste. However, there are great bourbons out there and make for great cocktails. Old Fashioned is a great go-to.

I’m coming around to it. Also thinking about it’s possible I wake up in a bush in the yard if not careful

LOL...well. The idea isn't to dri k bourbon to get smashed. If you're doing that then you're getting cheap shite and it's poor bourbon so no wonder someone wouldn't necessarily like it if that's the goal.
But if you want a good bourbon experience, then you need to spend a tad more than a bottle Jim Beam cost.
Also depends on your pallette. Everyone's is different so you might never like it. It is what it is.
Good starter is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked if you want a neat or rocks bourbon. Woodford Reserve is a good starter for Old Fashionds. Any of the Russel's Reserves is a great option (part of the Wild Turkey family of bourbons). Makers Mark Cask Strength or single barrel select at your local bottleshop is also usually a great choice.

If you have barrel proof and don't like it, it's either crap juice or bourbon isn't your thing....
So room temp is 55ish degrees and a few drops of water may do wonders.... if you are a real puss, an ice cube.

So they ran out of ways to sell bourbon, and now barrel proof is a thing. And people are finding bushes to sleep in

Barrel proof has been a thing for a while. Some are better than others.

True but even more true about Scotch. Bourbon lends itself to a cocktail. Scotch does not. It's a flavor profile thing.
