He and Ted can watch the Braves win it all this year from the great gig in the sky.

Thankful for the memories.

I remember when Schuerholz took over, the thing fans a lot of fans were most excited about was that he promised to have a better grounds crew. The Braves had a really shitty grounds crew before that, and the new crew would get a standing ovation sometimes after they dragged the infield.
And they also started playing Put Me In Coach when the team took the field. And then the team started winning and they'd draw 55,000 on a Wednesday night.
There will never be energy lke that around an Atlanta sports team ever again. It was lightning in a bottle, It's hard to appreciate if you're not old enough.

I tried to find the YouTube standing ovation of when Rocker made his return to Georgia after offending the disgusting perpetually offended, but it’s been scrubbed from the Net

I was a huge Braves fan from the late 70's onwards. I grew up going to see the Richmond Braves and later moved down to SC. By the late 80's I was really burned out. I think it was the year Ted did that "One Crazy Summer" promotion and they lost over 100 games. I think it was maybe 1988. I was really skeptical in 91. I was at UGA and I remember going to the first Braves game I had been to in years right in the middle of the Fall division battle. I think at the time we were battling the Dodgers for the West division. The energy at Fulton County stadium was electirc.

That's back when the PA announcer at Sanford Stadium announcing the Braves score was a big deal and people would start tomahawk chopping, because the only people in the stadium who knew the Braves score were the ones wearing the goofy headset radios. I definitely had a pair when I was a kid. Had my shirt tucked in like a snitch too!

This is a satisfying substitute though. The NYM media talking more about Rocker's 1 inning pitched than their own player who broke his wrist.
