I preferred McMahon but he also comes with risk. I’m not gonna shite on White. I, like many of you, looked it over and it appears to be solid. Just remember watching his teams and wasn’t blown away. We’ll see what kind of staff he puts together.

People came up with better options, but the response is “they weren’t real candidates”

Ok fine, I'll submit mark few and bill self. Who cares if they aren't "real candidates", they're my candidates!

I’m not upset at the hire, but do think we could have made a bigger splash.

"splash" is all about perception. And perception is dumb since it's dealing with teh general public's mindset and the general public is usually dumb as shite. 12 months ago mike white would have been a grand slam. Why is he not one now? Becuase UF didn't make the tourney this one year? Would mcmahon have been a bigger "splash"?

I give this a Grade of B right now. I think it’s realistic to sneak into the NCAAT in a couple years, but is that what we are looking for, or could we have gotten more from someone else.

I think, for UGA basketball, making the tounrey in year 2 would be asbolutely outstanding. Let's also remember that since we live in the portal age now we may get some UF guys to come with White, who would probably be some of the better guys on our roster.

I think B is a solid grade, and may be inclined to go higher but I dont' want to be too reactionaary right now. At any rate, I think 3 or 4 years down the line we will be happy with the hire.

We would have thought this hire was fine until the pipe dream of Scott Drew came along for some people.

Those of us that knew that was never happening are more excited about this hire.

Fox came from Nevada
Crean came from the Midwest
White is an SEC guy. A plus in my book.

You’ve always been realistic on it.

But other people thought there was a chance, which is hilarious.

Like someone else said he is an SEC guy; played at Ole Miss. Coached at La Tech & Florida. Fox was a west guy. I hear he is a really good x and o guy. Biggest challenge now is recruiting. I'm not sure we could have done better given the state of the program.

Hearing substantial buzz around Jonas Hayes returning to Athens as the lead assistant on White’s staff I reported Thursday that sources said UGA was hoping to get Hayes back to Athens even if he wasn’t offered the HC job. White pursued Hayes at Florida back in 2018
