Solid win. Got some breathing room in the schedule, their legs under them and the team clearly gelled and got some more identity the last 5 or so games.

The security of knowing they’re in is great, im almost more pleased with the team riding a hot streak into the tournament

This team is definitely catching fire right now. If we can make a little run in the toruney we might find ourselves in an 8/9 seed.

Give me one win in the SEC tourney and then let's bounce.

Get some rest and I'd rather stay as a 10 seed.

That is my fear. Would love that 10 seed. Best chance at a Sweet 16 right now

I loathe the thought of the eight or nine seed just because it's bullshite that you get rewarded with facing a number one seed next. But honestly are we in position to be that picky? The silver lining to that is that you get a much more manageable (on paper) chance at winning your first game. Prior to the season even starting if someone offered that we would not only make the tournament but actually win a game there every single person here would have taken that without a single seconds hesitation.

I don't think there's a drastic difference in winning vs a 8 vs 7 seed, but yes, winning a tournament game and getting wrecked by Duke would still be a massive season for us. Winning any kind of tournament game is a huge step for the program.

Just out of curiosity I looked it up. All time record in first round:

9 seed vs 8: 81-75 (actually a winning record vs a higher seed!)
10 seed vs 7: 60-96

I would say that the 7 seeds this year are not a vast difference from the 8 seeds. But the 2 seeds are definitely worse than the 1s. So Sweet 16 chances are better as the 10 IMO

Until the tournament starts and all the common wisdom goes out the door with midmajors beating blue bloods.

It's why people who know nothing about college basketball often win the tourney spread.

I wonder how much getting a nice little run in the tourney will improve our chances at getting something like a 7 seed. Especially if St. John’s wins their tourney and Florida wins the SEC tourney.

Having a resume of wins against Florida, St. John’s, Kentucky, and possibly a second win vs Kentucky or win vs Ole Miss while having zero bad losses might go a long way in seeding

IDGAS who they play. I’m traveling to see them and thankful the drought is over.

Currently the projection is to play BYU who is on a 9 game win streak with 3 ranked wins over ISU, Kansas and Arizona.

Could change a lot depending on how the tournaments play out

There are about 200 people out there with bracket predictions, so not sure which is “THE” projection you are referring to, but none of the 4 biggest and most reputable have us playing BYU and it’s almost impossible.

BYU is likely to be a 5 seed or 6 seed and we will not be 11 or 12 seed.

Also, BYU can’t be a 7,8,9,10 seed this year because of locations and which days those seeds play on, as BYU can’t be in a location that plays opening round Fri/Sun

The Athletic bracket has us as a 9 seed playing UConn and then Duke.

Hope that isn't right

More historical data.

Percentage of time each seed has made sweet 16:

8: 10.3%
9: 5.1%
10: 15.4%

So a clear historical example that a 10 seed sits up better for a sweet 16 run.
