I just really don't understand how anything works anymore. It blows me away that a team with 3 losses and no conference title can be in the playoffs.

Because there are rarely 12 teams with really strong resumes. This year is actually an improvement compared to last season.

IMHO both teams are pretty much mirror images of each other and have been for a while now. I expect the score to be close reflecting this. Only thing that would shock me is one team winning by more than 3.

Look at this way, Bama would be regular season SEC champs if there was no game. Should they really be punished for losing the extra 13th some didn’t even play? Furthermore, to drop them out, you’d have to let Miami or Vandy in without them even playing for it or keep BYU in despite losing their conference championship. It’s just not gonna happen. The bump up above ND was them pretty much writing that in stone.

I know these arguments will always evolve into “earn it on the field vs best on paper” but Bama is one of the best 12 teams in the country, no doubt. The committee seems to be apt to forgive earlier losses too.

Back in the day Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama all would have been crowned co-champions. There were no tiebreakers. The SEC liked handing out conference championships.

Things will be different for this week. And from what I have heard about him, he is a high quality lineman who simply hasn't seen a lot of game time.

Malachi Toliver grew up tonight...

I met him when he first arrived....

He was under 300 pounds.

I could tell right off that he was a real good kid.
