It looks like we could be in for some more of the same toward the end of next week, I think this would be a good time for Mayor Reed to make a statement.

I don't even know if I technically fall under the jurisdiction of a Mayor......or if I do, I certainly don't even know what his name is.

It's hard to believe I'm even alive at this point!

You are learning lessons right now. The things you are reading about in this thread will be remembered by you, some time in the future.

There will come a time in your life when "self reliance" and "personal responsibility" are no longer concepts to be argued as philosophical devices in a political conversation. You will come to know them as reality, not concepts.

You'll remember this thread. And maybe someday you can pass these lessons on to someone else who has yet to understand them.

And a big swing and a miss. You've been missing the point repeatedly for a few pages now. To watch you continue, at this point, is impressive.

No.

To watch him waste his time with someone as hopelessly oblivious as you...........is not "impressive", imo.

Chik-fil-A feeding stranded drivers in Birmingham, AL........ LINK.......as the bee-hive residents in ATL complain that the national guard didn't get there early enough with tax-payer bought gruel and MRI's.........
quote:

“We cooked several hundred sandwiches and stood out on both sides of 280 and handed out the sandwiches to anyone we could get to – as long as we had food to give out.”

The staffers braved the falling snow and ice and Chick-fil-A refused to take a single penny for their sandwiches.

The meal was a gift – no strings attached.

I didn't say it wouldn't happen in Atlanta. IN fact, I wrote earlier about all the private Churches there opening their doors to help people.

And maybe people are bitching in Brimingham and other places too, but............all you hear on the news and radio right now are people blaming the mayor/gocvernor/national guard/ whoever for what happened in Atlanta........

It's embarrassing.

It really is. God forbid the people in charge of the city accept any responsibility and admit that they fricked up in preparation.

The government should be on the ball when it comes to things like these. But citizens should not just assume the government will be. Each person should evaluate their own situation and do what they believe is best for them, rather than waiting on the government to do something for them.

I operate under the assumption that the tasks the government should not be responsible for (but take control of anyway) will not be executed effectively, if at all, and that it is up to me to make sure my family is safe and provided for, both in times of emergency and calm.

Yeah, and it was FEMA's fault NOLA was hit by Katrina. They should've somehow reshaped the coast to make it more like Jacksonville's.

I know right.......... It sucks that they haven't completed the gigantic snow-umbrella that covers the entire city of Atlanta yet.

You would think that they'd issue snow-chains to all Atlantans when they renew their driver's licenses in the meantime. Or something like that.

What? We knew snow was coming as early as Sunday. GDOT trucks weren't mobilized until Tuesday when they should have been sent out Monday night. Schools and businesses were all released/closed at the same time. This is something that could have been prevented, plain and simple.

ON Sunday there was a thread on this very board full of CHowderpuffs in the Atlanta area whining because all the snow was predicted for south of their shithole.....i mean city.

Not mobilizing GDOT the night before like he should have. He admitted that they didn't think Atlanta would get the brunt of the storm, when other projections said otherwise. The roads were not pre-treated to the extent they should have been.

And then projections on Sunday evening showed that Atlanta was going to get snow as well. On Monday we were projected to get 1.5-2 inches in the metro area.
