Let’s say we beat them in the SEC title game. Does anyone really think the playoff committee leaves out a 1 loss Alabama team?

This for the second year in a row poses the question: Does the SEC championship mean anything?

Sure in certain scenarios it would matter....say Bama loses twice in the regular season and missed the sec championship. In that scenario they most likely don’t get in. If they go into the SEC championship with a loss and then lose again to an east opponent they’re most likely out of the playoff.

So basically our conference championship could or couldn’t mean anything depending upon the circumstances.

What are your feelings on this?

(Btw frick auburn. One game at a time.)

If Michigan, Notre Dame and Clemson win out, the loser of the SECCG is out. If one of those loses, Bama is basically guaranteed a spot.

If we win the SECCG and have only 1 loss, we are in the playoff. If we beat Bama by 2 TDs or more, they will likely miss the playoff unless Clemson, ND or Michigan get a loss.
But, I think we don't need to think about anything except getting to the SECCG without another loss or major injury to any starters.

It depends on what everyone else does. If Clemson, ND, and UM win out Bama is out. If OSU beats UM and wins the Big10 things get interesting. I think Bama fatigue would put OSU in

If their are 4 better looking teams, yes.

Right now the are 0 better looking teams. If by some miracle Georgia beats Bama, you think there are 3 better looking teams than Bama by then?

Notre Dame should not even be considered being that they don't play a division championship. They're "independent" which is total BS. But lets take a look at the upcoming games that matter for ND and Michigan:

ND:
FSU - ND will win
Syracuse - Syracuse has the best shot to beat ND
Trojans - This is a no brainer

Michigan
OSU will probably win this game

Clemson - Well, look at who they're playing.

If we beat Bama, they won't get in unless the other conference champs have 2 losses. That's the reason Bama got in last year. They were up against a two loss OSU team.

Considering if we don't play in the SECCG last year we aren't in the playoffs, I'd say it means something. It can mean something to the winner even if it doesn't mean anything to the loser.

I dont watch OSU - just look at the scores. I do think its funny that they lost to Purdue. But I think they beat Michigan. I want Michigan to lose a game.

They have lost a game. And any UGA fan should be pulling like hell for Michigan, Clemson, and Notre Dame to win out. If by some stroke of Fortune we beat alabama the worst thing in the universe that could happen would be to have to best them a second time. Therefore we should want 0-1 loss major conference champs. Trust me I don't like pulling for those teams but if that's what helps UGA then so be it.

As long as the SEC Champion goes to the playoffs, then the SEC Championship means something.

I'm sorry but the defending national champion with one loss in the CCG will still get in. Notre Dame, without a championship game, would not get in over a one loss Bama.

Bama, to their credit, has built a resume' for a decade that means something.

Bama is in, win or lose in the SECCG, and I don't have a problem with that.

Bama would get in, then all the little shite people will call for a 6 game playoff where the bottom 4 have a Final Four the weekend before Christmas with some shite-bowl tie-ins, then you have your real final four as it exists now on New Years weekend.

If you think a 1 loss non conf champ bama would get in over an undefeated Notre Dame youve lost your marbles.

Got smashed by Purdue and barely beat a horrid Nebraska team after a week off.

The Irish and Clemson are pretty much a lock the way I see it. They not losing with the rest of that cupcake schedule. Who in the ACC gonna challenege the tigers the rest of the way? Maybe SC gives them some fight, I doubt it. MU
Is in, OSU could beat them but I doubt that too. If we beat Bama, Bama, I believe a 1 loss Bama is getting in over Michigan and Oklahoma, assuming they all still only have one loss.

Btw - If Bama would have lost to LSU - they would’ve gotten in, again, without winning the Conference.

The fact they beat LSU, if we somehow can beat them, they will not get in except if ND, Mich, and Clemson somehow lose.

I still think even if one of those do lose, and only one, the Big12 will backdoor into the playoffs.
