I may be furthering my education in New York after graduation. I'm going to need a place with some dawg fans to watch us next year. They have an alumni association set up in most major cities and they have a set bar to watch the games. I'm just wondering if people actually go to these. I can't just watch these games around all the NFL and anti SEC fans.

New York actually is really good about having local watch parties for college games believe it or not. I have a couple buddies that go but can't remember the bar they go to in New York. I would definitely check it out though.

ETA: What're you going up there to study?

I have an offer from nyu college of dentistry. It's expensive as shite but its the only place I got in and living in the city in my early/mid 20s would be awesome. Ill definitely be a little honesick especially in the fall when my best friends and family are tailgating for the games so having a UGA bar is actually pretty important haha. I don't want to watch it solo at my place or in a bar where I have to fight over what's on tv.

Yeah did that last night and the alumni association has a colony/chapter/whatever in NYC. I checked the past events and saw that they had a bar to watch the game for the major games. I just was wondering if people actually showed up to these alumni things in cities across the USA hah.

My aunt and uncle still go to their UGA alumni group events in LA. Called the SoCal Dawgs or something like that. They really like the group and go pretty much every gameday.

Good to hear from both of you. If it still has a strong following as far away as LA is and they have them in smaller cities like Minneapolis, I feel like ill have good luck in New York.

2012 was the first time in 8 years that I've missed a UGA game, so I toyed with the idea of doing just that at the local UGA alumni bar. Ultimately though, I decided to just stay home. For one, even though it'd be dawg fans and that's great, I don't like watching something that I have a vested rooting interest in in a noisy crowded place. I get annoyed easily. I like hearing the announcers and hearing the crowd and soaking in as much gameday atmosphere through the TV that I can..you don't get that at a bar where you're shoulder to shoulder and everyone is talking. Also, I wouldn't know a soul there so I wouldn't have a companion to talk about the game with, I'd have to force my way into another group and make friends with them. And lastly, even though this may be fricked up, I would almost assuredly get hammered and didn't want to have to drive home, in addition to the bar tab I would inevitably run up.

So, I decided to stay home in my own living room, a few feet away from my big screen with surround sound, with my fridge full of beer and snacks one room away, in the air conditioning, with a clean bathroom down the hall. And I had/have absolutely zero regrets about it. Antisocial? Yeah, probably. Enjoyable? Absolutely.

The Chicago one is packed on gamedays. They use this country western themed bar in the city. The place is huge and several sec teams use the same location.

In a major city like nyc I'm sure the events will be full of dawg fans.

The Denver alumni base is pretty big also. They've even set up a Facebook event inviting Dawgs to come see the Braves play the Rockies in a couple weeks.
