Damn. I'm due $1200. I don't need it to survive. Where can I send it for the best "bang for the buck". Pheobe Putney can hold a while. Is there another charity that is deserving? One that is working their arse off, doing what is right, because it's the right thing to do.

If you are looking for a place to send your check, I would recommend Calvary Refuge in Clayton County. It is a Homeless shelter there. I live in Henry County, but I know the woman who runs Calvary, and they have their budgets cut all the time...and now they are told they have to stay open. I know they watch their money closely and put it where it is most needed. A group of friends and I volunteer a couple of times a year to feed the people staying there. They primarily depend on churches taking a night of the week to feed them, but with this shutdown they don't even get that help.

Ummmm....I have no idea what all of those numbers and things are or mean.

I had the same thoughts but I also believe the first thing you can do to help the poor is to not be one of them. Secondly that's gonna be taxed as income next year, third is all the real poor and essential are getting shite tons of money already.

The 9/11 stimulus checks got taxed as income. I don't see why these wouldn't, at least for the high income earners like you and me.

Spend it at a handful of local restaurants you like that are still doing take-out or delivery, and tip handsomely.

Oh that could be. I thought he was just referring to his regular yearly federal refund.

They could be lying. That's what politicians do. But they have explicitly stated they will not be taxed as income.

It's structured as a tax credit, you won't be taxed on it.

Both of these statements are false.

The stimulus check is an advance on a refundable credit the IRS is granting us for next year's tax return. This should not impact your next year's return but I think would still need to be reported as a utilized credit. Also, since it's a credit it shouldn't have an impact on your state filings.

And if you're a high income earner you probably won't get a check anyways. The payout phases out after a certain income level.

I'm glad my cousin isn't on this list. He was admitted to Phoebe but he's since been released. He had to be prone and on oxygen at one point
