Wow. The victim is smeared through the paper but the adult groomer is protected.

Sounds like the real story here is adult women targeting high profile HS recruits.

I'm not sure if we want to open that box. Sounds like it may have been a fringe benefit of the visit..

Maybe not though since she was so clingy.

I agree with letting this blow over, but my understanding from the chain of events is that she had reached out to him via social media DMs and established the relationship due to his "celebrity" of being a high value UGA recruit.

So she wasn't a recruiting hostess or someone connected to the program. Just a girl chasing "fame", as much as a 16 year old recruit can offer.

All that we know is she was a 20 year old woman that wore a wig.

If a 20 yr old male had lured in an underaged UGA gymnastics recruit and hooked up with her on her visit his arse would be under the jail.

Malika Andrew is the archetype a lot of the young women who are staffing most sports reporting organizations. They are always looking to crucify a young, male athlete. There's a bit of backlash already from the public, so legacy sports media will have to pivot or go by the wayside. In the meantime, though, the environment is far from forgiving.

-------

Players and coaches are adjusting as well. This article could have been written about any large program in the country, and the way Kirby has managed this seems adequate. However, the noise around Athens is still concerning.

The fact is whether they're black, white, hispanic, asian, or whatever - there is no longer friendly media for young, male athletes. Yeah, you now get money, freedom of movement, and more control over your lives; but the new paradigm also comes with a level of hostile scrutiny that very few 18 year-olds can withstand.

Eventually, this is going to take a program down. I don't think it'll be Athens, but we can only hope and trust in current leadership.

I think it can be concerning for parents. If my son is a high level recruit and looking at Georgia, I’m looking at how this media outlet is ruining players reputations just to get at the head coach. I don’t think it would stop me from supporting his decision to go there but I would hire a lawyer that has a good reputation for winning defamation suits with the quickness.

The media is constantly trying to give the population a” clutch their pearls” moment. They know that UGA football is by far the biggest thing going in the state by a landslide.. so they throw this “investigative report” out there to create a story that is going to get them clicks, and hopefully with this story behind a pay wall, it will make them some money!
The nation as a whole is very untrustworthy of the national media on a wide range of topics, this is another story that shows how greasy they can be! Unfortunately this country is full of idiots that believe EVERYTHING they are told on TV, or read on that same companies web page!
