We all know our offense has issues. The good Senator has a post on his blog describing out issues with the run game and how the problems with the passing game is affecting it.

He basically summed it up. Nobody is afraid of Fromm because they don't think he can beat a team with his arm, so they stack the box and play press coverage. I don't care how good your OL and backs are, it's very difficult to run against 7 and 8 men in the box.

It's not just Fromm but he is a major reason. His WRs aren't helping him out as much this year.

I know it was wet, but there were a lot of body catches or body catch attempts by the receivers.

Doesnt have to be just one, we were absurdly predictable vs SCU(Coley), the wrs have dropped several that hit them in the hands and short of UF, we have not won the 50/50 passes, and Fromm has been off or he could have lost confidence given the above.

Good news,. Fromm is good enough to beat teams with his arm and tends to show up in the Benz. Hopefully lSU finds this out the hard way.

Fromm has shown he can be a great college QB. Kirby philosophy limits him to a great game manager which is fine, you can still win NCs with that, but Coley has lowered that ceiling even more in my opinion.

This is not me excusing his play last week. You have to hit those passes. I'm sure at this point Jake is probably battling some mental demons too.

I just hope he comes back and has a new coordinator to get him back to where he should be.

Our offense does suck, but I’ve felt like we’ve been in control of almost every game. We’ve had TDs called back against Missouri and Florida and Fromm missed 2 wide open TDs against A&M. Got to hang on to hope somewhere

So here's the real disagreement. I don't think you can win a NC without a playmaker at QB anymore. In the CFP era, only one QB won who was a game manager (Jake Coker) and even he had a huge game in the national title game.

It’s the classic passing game issues. A snake eating its own tail. I saw it happen a couple of times with Murray too.

Quarterback loses it for a few weeks, then the receivers stop trusting him so they start dropping passes or running deep routes in unusual ways or off speed anticipating a poor pass (like Pickens on the flea-flicker). That leads to more mistakes and makes it harder for the QB to get back in rhythm and the problem just gets worse and worse. Snake eating its own tail.

Honestly, if we have one or two good clean passing drives against tech, I think you’ll see things start to click. The passing game is a lot like a basketball offense, it’s 70 or more % rhythm and chemistry.

I am the complete opposite.

A few different plays against ND, Auburn, A&M and Florida and we could have lost

And plenty of "playmakers" have wet the bed in the playoff games including Hurts,Tua and JJ Barrett and Mayfield never won a playoff game.

We also coulda won all 3 of those games had we hit a just a few plays and we were never behind in any of those games.

AJ McCarron was a game manager as well as Greg McElroy just a dumb statement

Neither were in the CFP era.

Points per game of all CFP champions:

2014 Ohio State: 44.8
2015 Alabama: 35.1
2016 Clemson: 39.2
2017 Alabama: 37.1
2018 Clemson: 44.3

Georgia is currently at 31.2, and that looks a whole lot worse when you take the two cupcake games (63 vs Murray State, 55 vs Arkansas State) off the table. 2006 Florida was the last team to win it all with a number at least that low (29.2).

When WRs can’t get open that’s a problem also I’ve noticed he doesn’t see some of his WRs open either

And Clemson had LOADS of cupcakes to pad their PPG both
NC years.

I also imagine OU probably averaged more PPG than any of the NC's but they'vs yet to win a playoff game.OSU also put up huge numbers in '16.

Oklahoma's defense was atrocious in all three of their CFP years. They weren't a shutdown defense and they didn't get big plays to get the ball back to their offense.

If you take out the OOC games Florida played that year (Southern Miss, UCF, Western Carolina), they averaged 22.1 points per game during the regular season. They won many of their games the same way Georgia has in 2019.
