UGA is 56 and 1 under Kirby when scoring 30 or more points. Heard that stat Monday night on Griffith's podcast.
I don't see the Buckeyes holding the Dawgs under 30 points Saturday. That record will be 57-1 come 11:30p New Year's Eve.

I would honestly like to see this stat as a national average. It's probably pretty damn high, across the board.

When you factor in an offense scoring that much while having a defense averaging around 10 points a game, well, you get damn near perfection.

Defense still does win championships.

The Buckeyes have played 3 ranked teams and, with the exception of Michigan, have taken care of business pretty well. Dawgs are going to have to play an intense, four quarter game.

They play the games for a reason, but given this specific match up, I like our chances.

Both were closer than is looked. Penn State was winning in the fourth quarter and ND had a lead in the third. My guess is tOSU had better depth than ND and PSU. That shouldn't be a problem for us, though.

Neither of those teams are terrible, though. I look at those about like I do UGA vs Missouri, even though both of those teams are better than Missouri (probably). UK vs UGA was a mauling. The score may not reflect that but the Dawgs imposed their will, in that weather, all game long.

I think OSU isn't as good as their best showing and definitely not as bad as their worst. They are also, probably, over hyped and not as good as the national perception.

UGA is a complete team. Complimentary football, as Kirby says.

I don't love the matchup because of their penchant for throwing the bomb, but I don't hate it because they are, largely, one dimensional. I think Dawgs cover easily.

Against ranked teams Georgia averages 43.8 PPG. Ohio State 29.3.
On defense, Georgia gives up 14.4 PPG to ranked teams. Ohio State 28.7 PPG.

Why this one is different is the following:

1) Stetson's shoulder injury he was dealing with
2) Jalen Carter injury in 1st qtr
3) Mitchell injury kept him out, so no top WR to take his place yet
4) At night for Missouri's super bowl

If you look at the stats on the game, it wasn't even close and after the 3rd qtr, GA run all over them and stopped them consistently. Game seemed close until the end on tv, but I bet on the field they weren't that worried.

Yeah, that was the game where Searles changed my mind on the hire. 2nd half, UGA line came to play.

I only made the comparison simply because even championship caliber teams have off days, especially when teams have your game circled on their calendars.

I don't hate on OSU for those two games for (some of) the same reasons why I don't hate on my Dawgs for looking human against Missouri.

You get everyone's best game every week.

Not all teams can say that.

UGA is better than that game. OSU may be better than they showed against PSU and ND.

But, they are, largely, one dimensional, and that should be the difference Saturday.

Road game matters for the offensive line.

Missouri was loud. We weren't able to communicate and properly identify our Mike backer in the zone blocking scheme. Counter worked much better because it is kicking and logging most dangerous man at the point..

My biggest shock against Missouri was our pass protection at the tackles. Missouri was just running around us. That split second off the snap matters a huge deal. It also allowed them to run outside of the play on split zone. But it was hell on Stetson until we got the ground game going.

Why do we always play them, at night, in their house? I fricking hate that place. It's bad juju. They have some great fans, in that regard.

I agree ..

Defense

This is in Kirby's DNA ... pure and simple. With the players Kirby has in house and what he recruited this year, I expect the defense will be pretty darn good in '23 and '24 .. not much of a drop off from this year .. . actually, it could be better in '23.

Yep .. that sucked. Went from being on top of the world after Eason hit Ridley to hitting rock bottom all in the matter of a few seconds. Unbelievable.

And the narrative that "KIRBY CANT WIN THE BIG GAMES!" was born.
