First, you can’t substitute your entire 11 like they did, but more importantly, we were not offsides and shoulda been our ball at their 20…

This is when the ball is snapped. Yea, they were moving towards the line when it happened, but never crossed. Also, the two TEs are well off the ball and shoulda been a ND penalty for too many men in the backfield

One of our guys in the middle jumped offsides.
ND had no intention of running a play.
It was the classic play that we run to get the other team to jump offsides and we fell for it. Poor disciple.

A LB barely got into neutral. We responded correctly. Dude made a mistake. We made a bunch of them.

It was apparently legal bc it was a dead ball.

Gamesmanship and they won that one.

Where? This is a screen shot after the center moved the ball for the snap. No one is offsides. Close, yes, but not offsides. Also, ND has 5 men in the backfield, which is also a penalty

Only see four in the backfield

The egregious thing o. This play was the missed false start by the WR.

But ultimately it probably doesn't matter. Wasn't our night.

The last two linemen on the left are more than a yard off the ball…

I agree, but getting the ball at their 20, down 10 would have made a HUGE difference in the game

You think all of the players on that line are not in the backfield?

Correct. I think they allow that little extra space for all teams. Ratledge does it a lot for us. As long as helmet is inline between hips and shoulder of center they usually don't call it.

Maybe not back in your day but literally every team does that including us

They called ND on it in the game on another play..
They do let tackles flex a tad, but this sets up like they are off the LOS. Refs missed it. They missed a lot. The roughings, the holds, the ref running outside of the white area and then flagging us. We didn’t get any favors.

Anyone trying to downplay the impact of refs on outcomes is clueless. They can decide who gets the ball. They can end games or keep teams alive.

If indeed it was a penalty on ND, they would have been backed up five, and then they would have punted.

I was saying we weren’t offsides, which woulda been our ball.
If anything, their WR false starts and they had too many men in the backfield. In that case, we get the ball back after a punt, instead of them running the clock out

He jumped, it's unlike him, the QB called the cadence and he guessed wrong.

If our guys rock back, they will snap it and push us down the field

It happens to the best players, they were told.
