Ya oline is lacking both in portal and on campus. Feeling leaving may be the worst news this years

Watched the weekly Donnan show on UGA Sports.

His main point was about how signifcant it is that we retained so many of our players, and the first player he named was Puglisi. Donnan is a Puglisi fan and says that the coaches are really high on him too.

If Puglisi is ready to start in 2027, that would be an ideal situation and wouldn't have to get into the bidding for a portal quarterback.

Knock on wood, but they've done a very good job of maintaining the roster. If the current situation holds, we return 14 OL and they average about two full seasons on roster at Georgia. That's when most OL should be expected to become a reliable contributor at the major college level. I think we'll be fine, including OT. For 2025, we returned 12 OL with slightly less experience, on average, than this round. At first glance, receiver looks most questionable; returning 8 but they're a young group.

Overall, as of right now we return 68 players from the 2025 team, which is a very good number. In 2025 we returned 55 from the 2024 team, with less experience on average. In 2024, we returned 47 players from the 2023 team.

It'll happen every year. Kirby's DB's get probably the best coaching in college football and other coaches know it. Kelly probably got an offer that Georgia wouldn't match. My guess, another SEC team came calling.

Is it just me or does it seem like our incoming portal players are overall a step up from last year?

Idk that anyone is likely to make the impact Zachariah Branch did

Damn, that's no good. That just happened to be one other players that Donnan brought up. He's still 17.

One of the other insiders pointed out that tomorrow and Friday will be the days that teams with leftover money to burn will start throwing out big desperation offers and portal season definitely isn't over yet.

I think we'll have 2 and 3 tight ends on the field next season even more than we have in the past, for better or worse. It's fun when it works and you shove the ball down the other team's arse, but it stunts the progress of the downfield passing game and what happens in a shootout.

There's no point in even flinching about this anymore. The days of stockpiling talent like Saban are over, unless you have some really deep pocket boosters and are willing to flaunt the rules. If a player has been here one year and he's not expecting to start, he's at risk. Even if he is expecting to start, he's still at risk but nobody should care about those because they're not team players, just mercenaries. The inability to stockpile talent is not a bug in this new system, it's the main feature and is working as designed by people who weren't happy with the previous outcomes.

I'm sure Kirby knew Kelly was looking. People think Kelly left because Georgia added a couple of corners in the portal. Just as likely, they added an extra corner because they knew some were looking. Probably a couple more players will leave in the next day or two and the staff will have already accounted for that too.

We've used tight ends to push the ball downfield too. It actually works really well in college because most college linebackers are bad in pass coverage. They blow assignments and they can't cover well. There's a reason that TE's across the middle weren't a big part of the offense this year. I'm not completely sure what that reason was, but I'm sure they're addressing it. We have too many good athletes at that position to ignore.
