No. Nobody changed their mind.

Recruiting sites & analysts can talk/tweet/smoke signal all day long about a given commitment.

The school can't do ANYTHING publicly acknowledging a student athlete until they sign their National Letter of Intent. If Stewart committed to Georgia in his ceremony but the school hasn't received the signed NLI, they can't do anything recognizing him as a part of the Bulldogs' recruiting class.

9th in average recruit rating in the 247 composite. Would probably have to go back to the later Richt years to find that.

Two things can be true at once. Kirby is a great talent evaluator and finding players who fit the program. This is Kirby's lowest-rated recruiting class.

Just pointing it out. I understand that the recruiting landscape is different now.

When you have the over #1 in some services back out on the last day, hard to replace...

not sure it matters as the portal is a more direct way to find proven talent.

I suspect you're waiting on me to do your homework for you, so here it is.

# of kickers and punters included in those averages

USC 0
Ore 0
ND 0
Ala 0
UTk 0 (they have one punter I think, but he's unrated and not included in their class average)
tOSU 0
TAM 0
LSU 0
UGA 2

If you take out the special teamers, UGA's class average is 0.9241, which is ranked 5th, behind Oregon, ND, Ala, LSU. But those four also have smaller classes than UGA. Oregon has 21, ND 27, Ala 20, and LSU 16. UGA's class size is 28 right now, not including the two special teamers.

Since compensated roster size is effectively no longer limited at 85 (Georgia had significantly more composite rated players than that this year), if you want to compare averages, it's more meaningful to do it from the top down and compare equal numbers of players. No need to punish teams for taking extra players who may be lower rated but become valuable depth during a long season, and who also may prove to be diamonds in the rough.

So, If you're interested in continuing the statistical comparison, you can take the average of the top 21 from Georgia's class and compare that number to Oregon's average. Average Georgia's top 20 and compare to Alabama's average. Average the top 16 from Georgia's class and compare that number to LSU. Average the top 27 from Georgia's class and compare that to Notre Dame's.

Who knows how any of these classes turn out in the end, but I think you'll find that, based on recruiting ratings, Georgia is still doing fine compared to the rest of the field. And I'd guess that Georgia spent less money than all of them.

Something's wrong with Jeff Sentell. Keeps having coughing in every video and looks all red and bloated and shite. I hope Jeff gets it together!

There's bias in the industry. The advent of NIL and free agency have drastically increased the potential incentives for bias. Kirby should avoid their product as much as possible, whether it's HS or Portal, and also be wary of any recruit with excessive exposure to the recruiting services.

Man, I miss recruiting know-it-alls. Used to be everywhere on these boards. Now they're like a dying breed. Those were the days!

24/7 - JUCO DL Seven Cloud Will Not Sign with Georgia

quote:

Georgia's 2026 recruiting class moved through the first morning of the early signing period with few surprises, but one of the mostly-expected storylines was confirmed on Wednesday: 4-star defensive line commit Seven Cloud will not sign with Georgia during the early window, a mutual parting of ways, Dawgs247 has learned.

Cloud’s signing destination remains unknown.

Cloud has been committed to Georgia since the fall of 2024, if you're only referring to his junior-college recruitment. The Butler CC product originally committed to Georgia out of high school before going the JUCO route. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive lineman committed to the Bulldogs last fall, but this has been trending in this direction from mutual decision for quite some time.

Oh no! The decade long recruiting saga has finally come to an end. The I-Phone 4 was popular when we started recruiting this guy. Anyways… good luck Seven. Tell eight we love nine.

Given the way Kirby coaches them up and the toughness he instills, I’ll take this all day long.

Ripple effect from the new NIL era? Large deep pocket fan bases are having an impact. With a spot like Nashville, how much do you figure they rolled out to Curtis? We may see Vandy climb in recruiting just from that alone now. How did USC grab the #1 class spot? Is Lincoln Riley now suddenly an elite recruiter? Perhaps but #1 class recruiter? Doubtful. Lincoln and his staff are not on Kirby's level. But how much can the LA market rake in to pay players now? Just some random thoughts of mine given the current environment.

DawgNation:

There are three commits who have not yet signed. Four-star defensive back Chace Calicut is not expected to sign this week as he still awaits resolution on his legal situation following a July arrest.

Four-star wide receiver Brady Marchese is set to sign at 3 p.m. on Wednesday but it sounds like Michigan has made a major move for the Georgia wide receiver commit. Marchese considered flipping to Michigan back in June before re-upping with Georgia.

Three-star punter Wade Register has also not yet signed with Georgia.
