Going for the series win tomorrow and would make it 5 for 5 on the season in SEC series. Would be absolutely amazing considering the league this year

Thanks for covering. I’m busy getting drunk on the beach but caught radio last night (until it got out of hand) and watched/listened to the whole game today. Manufacturing runs without over reliance on the long ball is a big deal.

Vigue gave up too many walk but otherwise another really good outing from him. Curious what we do tomorrow starting.

We desperately need a third quality starter

Yeah we are a good team minus lacking a third (and therefore a fourth) starter. We should be able to compete and get to the postseason just fine but lord we are in fricking trouble if we find ourselves in the losers bracket of a regional and if we don’t sweep a super (we will worry about our chances in Omaha if we ever get there)

Yeah, Wes is a wizard at making do. We need a booster to drop a mill a year, not bad compared to football to buy 4-5 solid, 5-6 inning type starter pitchers.

Now seems like a good time to spend money in Baseball.

This is an honest question from a casual fan. I thought Wes was a pitching guru, why are we struggling to find depth at pitching?

With transfer heavy rosters all-around, it’s tough to find a guaranteed SEC caliber starter without paying him. Aoki, Scott and especially Ishikawa were all thought to be capable starters, however, their successes vs mid majors have not translated well. Wes is a pitching “guru,” but there is only so much you can do…and almost nothing you can do midseason if the 3 guys you thought could develop didn’t.

It’s a numbers game with pitching. We had 3 looking for 1 or 2 starters and we got none as of now. I don’t necessarily blame Wes for bringing those guys in and also don’t blame him for not being a miracle worker.

That’s just my perspective though, and while frustrating this season, still think we are in a much better overall position as a program than I thought we would be at this point.

Go Dawgs

Translation: our admins and boosters aren't willing to spend big bucks on individual baseball players which I understand and agree with.
Our university is one of the most profitable because they spend wisely aka they look for the best bang for the buck in terms of return on investment.
I would guess that baseball is not profitable for our university and Wes is likely doing well with what he has to work with.

Heads up that this ETSU team we play today is frickin good at 23-10 and averaging 8 runs a game

But in other news, Warren Nolan likes us a lot: predicting a 44-11, 24-6 finish which would include 3 straight sweeps of Mizzou, Auburn, and LSU en route to the SEC title

I like what they’re smoking but I don’t see a chance in Hell of that happening

Dawgs lead 12-9 in the 8th. Been another midweek adventure with pitching but bats have at least shown up. Henry Allen broke the HR drought as well. Matt Scott making a return to the mound this inning after his disastrous start on Sunday

Missed the game with kids baseball but what a great outcome today. Didn’t help our biggest challenges, but helps secure a Super when the time comes
