Top 5 matchup loading in Starkville

MSU and the Dawgs are both unanimous #4 and #5, respectively, in this week’s polls

Take 1 in Starkville and it will be a success, IMO.

Man, they really really punished Arkansas and Auburn…

Quite a few good matchups this week. Interested in that UCLA/USC matchup. Is West Coast NCAA baseball back? Hope so. Always great to have competition on both sides of the States.

UCLA-USC should be great. Also have FSU vs UVA in a top ten matchup.

Sucks that UCLA and USC waste so much of their time in garbage Big Ten series; baseball in the Midwest just sucks this season outside of Nebraska

If he’s not called up in May, Rockies are out of their minds. He’s been seeing the ball like he’s back in college for a few months now.

Bet they wait until June or later to save a year in his major league clock.

Couldn’t remember if it’s May or June to start the clock. On production alone he would’ve been on the opening day roster with Bryant done but they’re going to drag arse to delay arbitration

Good news: Ishikawa struck out 4 batters on 22 pitches today in a confidence building game vs Ga State

Bad news: we are getting no hit through 3 innings vs a guy making his first career start and striking dudes out with a 74 mph curve

Make that 4 no hit innings. Vs a freshman topping out at 84 mph and dropping down to 73. 5 strikeouts so far.

Mid week games are our crux, no doubt.

What another weird game.

Didn’t get a hit until the 5th inning, scored 5 runs. Added another in the 6th.
Then State tied it and jumped ahead 9-6 in the 8th against some more shoddy bullpen work from the midweek crew.

And then offense remembered it could hit again and put up 5 including Phelps second tank of the game.

14-9 Dawgs win.

On to Starkville.

Glad to check in to see us win! We were down 6-9 last I looked. A midweek win is a good win. Off to Starkvegas!

BOOM. Dawgs get the first one in Starkville.

Heckuva win after trying hard to lose it in the later innings.

I was hoping to just steal one of these games. Nice to get the first one.

A chance to take the series tomorrow.

I had to coach my kids game, started listening in the 5th and have watched the rest after we got in.

Glad to see Volchko rebound with a really nice road outing after he melted down in College Station. Seems Byrd is still prone to hang his slider which cost us 5 runs and started the MSU rally.

All in all, that was a Class 5 arse clincher

But we got the road dub against a top 5 which makes the weekend a success regardless of what happens over the next 2.

Wouldn’t bank on a win tomorrow; we’re about to face one of the nastiest lefties in the college game.

Oh and we just broke State’s 20 game home win streak. So that’s something

1-0 MSU through 2

So far Valincius is as advertised; 3 Ks, no hits, no walks on 23 pitches and 6 batters faced

Vigue started out rough with 2 straight walks but seems to hve settled in in the 2nd. Gonna have to crack the code of the SEC’s best arm to have any chance in this one

Vigue walks the first 2 batters he sees in the 3rd but goes fly out, strike out, ground out to avoid any damage.

Still 1-0 MSU through 3
