Apparently not. To be clear, I wouldn’t hate skipping that game if only because others are skipping theirs consequence free. But I respect Stricklin sticking to the commitment to play the game anyway; midweek arms still deserve a chance to throw live after not getting to do so this past week

Good. We should honor our commitments, imo.

Another week of being unranked.

It’s going to look weird when Georgia grabs a 13-16 host spot as an unranked team.

5th in RPI, 3rd in SOS with a 14-13 conference record and an all but eliminated Mizzou in Athens this weekend. We are 12-13 against the top 50.

By comparison to other potential hosts:

#4 Stanford - 14 RPI, 35 SOS, 5-8 vs top 50

#8 Ok State - 12 RPI, 14 SOS, 11-12 vs top 50

#15 Maryland - 13 RPI, 112 SOS, 3-4 vs top 50

#18 Auburn - 4 RPI, 4 SOS, 11-12 vs top 50

#21 Vandy - 3 RPI, 5 SOS, 8-12 vs top 50

Dawgs win 18-3

We threw 8 arms tonight, all but Wilis in the 1st going a full inning (Rokose went 3 full) giving up 6 hits and 3 runs total on 10K and 2 BB. Not a bad night for the midweek staff.

Offensively, we just pummeled those guys. 18 runs on 15 hits and 9 walks with 6 LOB. Had 3 bombs and 4 doubles.

Lot of bench guys got some PT with Jernigan, Spikes, Floyd, Blaylock, Allen, and Watkins all starting or getting in the game late at the plate and in the field.

Nice tune up game before a Mizzou team down to its last 3 games of the season. They played Florida somewhat tough in a losing effort so we will see what they give us this weekend but absolutely should be taking 2/3 if not a sweep heading into Hoover.

Yea, if we can take 2 (hopefully 3) against Missouri and win 1 or 2 in Hoover, we should be hosting in the regionals.

It is crazy that D1 and BBA do not have us ranked right now, despite our RPI (which the committee heavily weighs), SOS, and conference record.

Obviously, if we take 2 or 3 against Missouri, we will be back in their top 25.

If we can sweep Missouri and make a good run in Hoover, we COULD play ourselves into a SR host.

SEC is so stacked, we are headed into our last series of the regular season and we could be anywhere from a Super host, to a 2-seed in the regionals.

I hope they leave us unranked and we end up a host. Both polls are being exposed as power rankings, not actual rankings of the top 25 teams over the course of the year.

BBA now has dropped us from hosting a Super to a 2 seed I. The Hattiesburg regional.

Southern Miss has an RPI of 19, an SOS of 53, and a record vs the top 50 of 4-7.

We have an RPI of 5, and SOS of 3, and are 12-13 vs the top 50

For some reason, likely recency bias given the last few series, I don’t think they’ll seed us to host. On the flip side, we could still sweep this weekend, finish 4th overall in the conference and have an extremely impressive resume that includes significant players having missed time in the regular who will participate in the NCAAT. UGA baseball under Stricklin, though, I fully expect us to go 2-1 this weekend, finish with 6 or 7 seed, bow out early in Hoover, travel as a 2 seed and not make it out of the regional.

Thats honestly where I am at, our only hope is to get hot, otherwise we will just frustratingly cruise to slightly above mediocre.
