Your assessment is correct in my opinion. He’s raw but has tons of upside.

Thankfully it’s at a position we can afford for now.

He was a 4*. That’s solid.

Thanks Americus.

Do you know what happened with Barrett Carter> I realize we won't get everybody, but I thought he was one we really wanted and was a heavy lean. Did something happen to turn him off to us?

He was a priority. Sat well with him for a while, but Clemson will get him.

Best answer is that they just beat us out for him.

We'll be good at ILB. Went light there last cycle and Schumann will do fine. We're lucky to have him.

Not really considering the talent we brought in

Sucks because he is a highly rated instate guy, but you cant win them all. You think Simmons getting drafted high made the difference?

I think it helps, but probably not the deciding factor. Will have to wait and hear it from him. Very high character kid. He'd do well anywhere.

Thanks. I knew we wanted him, and I was really looking forward to possibly getting Smael Monden and Carter. Things rarely work out exactly like we want, though.

This class will be excellent and feature many more in state guys.

Very disappointed to lose Carter to Clemson. He is likely the best player in the state this year.

Likewise. Two of their NC quarterbacks have come from our state.
Top players are at the highest level because they played at the highest level for their respective high schools.
There are many factors in the college decision process for 5 star players but one of those factors is potentially playing for a NC.
Translation: Georgia needs to win a NC to stem the flow of top instate recruits to Clemson.

Even if Georgia wins a NC, top players will still go to Clemson.

As long as Dabo is there, a lot of top recruits from everywhere will go to Clemson.

Not unlike how even though AUB, Bama & Clemson have won NCs, players still have come to UGA.

Ga boys were going there long before Clemson won their second one. We could roll off five in a row and they would still take some players we want.

Hmmm, a brand new Vol poster made this same claim earlier. Hmmm.

#6 in the state per the rankings.

No doubt that Mims is the best player in the state and Mondon is accurately ahead of Carter.

Bama, Clemson, Auburn and to a lesser extent Tennessee rely on the state of Georgia for talent and have for decades. It’s nothing new and even “locking down the state” still involves several of the top players in GA going to those schools.

There’s enough here to go around without us suffering. The important thing is getting the ones our staff REALLY want.
