So in no way is this me forgetting about Cincinnati but I wanted to see what people’s thoughts are/were into our very high profile season opener next year. Unfortunately I live in Greenville SC so I can’t go two feet without hearing of the greatness of the tigers.
Last night with some solid football minds (all that bleed that crappy orange and purple) we were written off in about 20 seconds. My heart obviously lies with the dawgs and so I wanted to see what people’s thoughts on here were like even at this juncture heading into this game.
Things We Know:
- we could potentially be opening up against the defending national champion (TBD) but at the least this will be a top 10 battle in week 1.
- they will start DJ uiagalelei at qb. Clemson fans almost seem to love him more than Trevor...
-Justin Ross will be back for Clemson going against a VERY young secondary
- the dawgs will have new combinations at OL and CB/safety. Not exactly ideal for a college debut but hey, some are born by fire and so these guys shall be
-The dawgs defense on the front should be nice and strong and I doubt DJ at this point in his career will have ever seen the pass rush he will get
-our offense in theory can keep up with JT under center, a healthy stable of backs, year two with monken, and WRs that are emerging.
I guess having or not having spring ball this year will mean a lot.
I just wanted to get the wheels turning as we are about to hit our 8 months without dogs football. Let’s hear it!
Ps- dawgs baseball preseason #12, dawgs basketball 7-0 so we have some entertainment ahead regardless!

If you listen to Walt Deptula or WCCP you will hear all summer how we have no chance. I seem to think Clumpson is still a bunch a pussies, just like their fans and players. We’ll see. It wouldn’t shock me if we kicked the frick out of them tbh.

I like our chances a lot, and I love the prospect of going in as an underdog. This season is set up to be special if the team can seize their opportunity.

They have a ton of talent. DJ is legit. Not sure how you can look at them and call them pussies. Certainly done a lot more then we have in the last 5 years but I do think we can beat them. Pretty evenly matched if you ask me

Just go with it... If you heard their fans 5 days a week you and others would completely understand. They all sound like whiny bitches... including their coaches. I also talked mad shite leading up to the Hutson Mason mercy knee.

Talent-wise, we will be about as even as it gets. Just depends on the QB play in my opinion. JTD has more experience than DJ which helps. They have the coaching edge I think, Dabo has won plenty of big games(don't hate on me for saying this.)

This will show how good of a coach kirby is...when it comes to defense.

AND Matt Luke.
Don't get me wrong,I like em a lot as our OL coach but the Clemson DL is absolutely loaded with studs.

The level of arrogance the Clemson fan base has acquired in about 5 years is so absurd it is actually sickening. You would think no game even needs to be played.
What I would give to see us curb stomp them into the pavement and start a spiral back down to mediocrity for them.

Meh, we have plenty enough evidence to know how good a coach Kirby is at defense, and the results are elite. Fact is that in today's game you arent going to hold offenses like that to 17 points, it's just not possible. At the very least I will feel more comfortable with our d in this game than I did in 13 with Connor norman starting at safety and a true freshman walkon starting at corner

Hate to say it but they have a right to be.
I would bet some of their old fans know the deal with the old school UGA rivalry

Clemson gets everyone back and will add 5 star grad transfers. We will essentially be starting walk ons against them. It will be hopeless. May as well write off the whole season now and get it over with.

It will be a tough one for sure, but it's not our entire season. Even if we lose we'll still have 11 games to get better and get another shot at them in the playoff.

If JT and we have a spring practice I expect a win in that game. Hard fought, but that Geoegia team should beat a young QB playing an opponent with these kind of athletes and this kind of firepower for the first time.

I just moved back to the Augusta area and I gotta say fans of Clem's son seem pretty low key considering their success of late...nothing at all like USC fans when they win 7 or 8 games in a single season....I am actually shocked they ain't completely intolerable....
There is still more signs of UGA fans in Aiken and North Augusta than there is of Clem's son and USC....

This. It would be great to beat Auburn with a lake for no other reason than it is always great to beat them but it has almost no bearing on the 2021 season...at least the first game....winning the SEC east is the first order of business and then of course the SEC...do that and we are in the playoff....the schedule next year is about as favorable as it gets to win the SEC east....

It has no bearing on the season other than if you are setting the bar at Natty or bust then we probably can expect or want to win each game on the schedule.
Could we recover from a week one loss to anyone, of course. This is more because it is literally unbearable to deal with these people. An inflated sense of entitlement in this particular generation already as it is, is flat-out nauseating.
