None of the guys leaving have really gotten much playing time. All have been recruited over and that's something that will probably continue to happen.
Lecounte staying likely led to Reese wanting to pursue options elsewhere.
Kirby is really involved with the secondary, so it's a safe assumption we'll be fine there, even if more attrition occurs. There's several DB's the last couple years getting a lot of playing time elsewhere that we didn't have room for.
This is a good example of how the 25 cap really helps some rivals out.

I mean if Ameer Speed transfers I'm ok. God we're going to be nasty on D next year.

I think kirby manages a roster as well as any coach in the country.
What we have been able to do the last 2 seasons on the OL with injuries is amazing (and not praised enough).
But injuries (and the early departures) for the NFL got us this season at WR/TE. I see potential issues in the future at S and G.
Early signing day, transfer portal, and changes to the 25 class rule... I dont know how Kirby does as well as he does.

Could grab a grad transfer at WR and TE. Tight end is the biggest question mark next year imo.
Safety- Injury away from an issue there next year. We sit well with a couple of good ones for the '21 class.
Guard- I see Lindberg and Blaske playing inside along with SVP of course. Salyer could move back to guard depending on Truss.

Seems the philosophy has been to recruit tackles and start them inside at guard then move them outside to tackle. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but that's just what it seems to me.

If TE is greatest need, why did we ball so hard after Washington vs. Gilbert? Seems like Washington is raw and Gilbert is ready to be a man.

So are we taking a second RB this class or no?
I watched Daijun Edwards film and am not impressed. He's shifty, can break weak tackles, can catch, and has a great spin move, but holy hell is he slow. His feet are moving lightning fast, but he's just not going anywhere. High school LB's are running him down.
I'm MUCH more impressed with Jahmyr Gibbs and honestly can't believe GT landed him. I'm very surprised he's not rated higher, actually.
But, Gibbs hasn't signed his LOI yet, so I assume this means he's still taking visits and there's a chance we could pull him over. Or is he some brainiac engineering student and we stand no chance?
And Ashaad Clayton, who's committed to Colorado but also hasn't signed his LOI, I am also not very impressed with his film either.
I'd actually be excited if we could pull Gibbs over, but he's about the only one.

Word was that Gilbert did not want to go to the same school as Washington and share the load.

We are not really in it for Gibbs. He doesn't like being considered a back up to the back up to the backup plan. Hard to blame him. We paid little to no attention to him. That's a part of the recruiting game.
I personally like Edwards. I'd like to know what his speed is...like his 40 or something, just to get a feel for him. His speed looked fine on film, but it's not the most accurate way to judge a kid.

Cant blame him for that but seems like he would have been the primary target if we were looking for a Day 1 contributor

Gilbert also expressed he didn’t desire to be used much as a traditional tight end blocker which we use a lot

Gilbert had a few favorites throughout his recruitment. Not sure many even knew he would pick LSU. Was told tigers and assumed Clemson lol.
No doubting he's elite though. Went after Theo Johnson really hard as well.
Washington did his best recruiting Theo fwiw. He's been on board for a long time.

We were hoping for a combination of Washington and Theo Johnson, I believe. Instead of getting Gilbert by himself we wanted two....I think I remember this...

Not breakaway for sure.

From a recruiting numbers standpoint, we should be fine with 4 TEs.
That said, our 4 tight ends have a career of 1 catch for 22 yards.
The most senior tight end in the room will be a redshirt sophomore.
Are any of them any good? Do we need more leadership in the room? Those are valid questions that coaches will need to know.

Odds favor Edwards. Dell really likes this kid. He was down in Moultrie not that long ago.
Gibbs was never a take. Pretty sure Bama passed on him as well.
Will have to see if any other running backs visit this month and if they want it known.

We arent short on linemen. Just guards in particular. Blaske is light but could develop. I havent seen film of Lindberg at guard, but he has the size and projects on the right side of the line. So moving him to guard for 2020 could be good for his development. And Salyer/Mayes could be options on the interior if any of the tackle prospects wow us. Including Mays, I show 10 offensive tackles on the roster (and that doesn't include Broderick Jones yet)

Basically the same as Milton.
Edwards has 3 straight 1000 yard seasons against the best teams in the state.

Kendall ran a 4.5x iirc.. I'm not a big proponent of 40 times but 4.8 might be mildly concerning once the kid adds the necessary weight for the next level... Then again he could have terrible form and shave time off. Kenny Mc had a slow time but had looked good in limited use.
