Anecdote does not disprove established statistics.
There are exponentially more 3 and 4 star prospects than 5 star every year. The 5 stars are individually much more likely to pan out as elite players.
You can argue that certain staffs are better at analysis and pick better guys from the 3/4 pool, but that doesn't hold water in this conversation since UGA pretty clearly prioritized the 5 star guys (Emery, Sanders) and are now going for plan Bs.

I hope he takes his scrawny arse to UT. Do you honestly think he could shed Wilson?

Sony was well ahead of Chubb.
True. I considered that comparison as well, but I really think those two guys turned out to be pretty equal in their careers. They were just better at different things. But it does speak to how underrated Chubb was.
And Marshall was ahead of Gurley. I remember Gurley's old-school H.S. coach said something to the effect 'I'd really like to see that other guy 'cause I KNOW how good my guy is'
But I agree that overall any given 5* will be a better player than any given 4*

One thing that I’m surprised hasn’t been mentioned was how easy it was for Kirby to pull a South Fl. RB away from Richt. Says a lot about the state of our programs right now.

Richt was a bad hire for them and will be gone within two years. History will show that we held on to him for far too long. Miami is getting pillaged under his watch.
Helps that Florida and Florida state are down as well.

I deleted a couple things today, but haven’t changed as much as I’d like. I have a surgery later this week, and should be able to make adjustments after that.

i remember watching the SC shriners game or whatever when Gurley was playing and thinking this dude is just a different breed. I think he had almost 30 carries and was just dominating. impressive to watch.

Watch McIntosh’s film, his run style looks similar to Sony’s.

Until Jadon visits UGA again, I don’t think we’re a real player. He wants to go to Miami, but he also recognizes they are a dumpster fire. He’s visiting Tennessee this weekend so I think he’s looking for a reason to get out of the state. I know UGA tried to get him to Athens last weekend but he instead chose to go to Atlanta to watch GT beat Richt.

It was always a hard call with Richt because just when people would reach bottom with him he'd put a contender on the field. Kirby appears to be a home run hire, but there weren't too many home run coaches hired in the years we would have canned Richt. So we could have potentially ended up with a much worse situation. Who would you have hired after 2009? 2010? 2013? 2014? Just curious. Kirby is the perfect fit for UGA and all in all it worked out best that we were ready when he was ready.
