Best weekend of the year is upon us. 3 Dawgs in the field this year

Bubba - 2012/2014 champion
Kevin Kisner
Keith Mitchell - qualified by getting his first PGA tour win in March

As always, the Tiger watch is on.

Went Saturday for the new women’s amateur final. The azaleas are about spent but they still had blooms. The dogwoods were going strong. 13 towards the green in the background will look great on TV.

Sunday not looking good on the weather front. Hopefully it holds off. As there is nothing better than Sunday at the Masters.

Still a bucket list item for me. Which is sad because I live not terribly far I could drive there. But I have learned Tickets are not easy to come by unless you know someone or want to spend a fortune.
One day I guess.

Been three times and it’s every bit the dreamland you’d think it is. Mrs. Durden couldn’t give less of a shite about golf and I made her go and now she is dying for a chance to go back.

Thursday-Sunday is certainly an experience unlike any other but I’d recommend trying to go on Wednesday if at all possible for the Par 3 tournament. It’s a relaxed full day on the most gorgeous plot of land on earth, as opposed to either putting down a chair at a green somewhere or moving with the crowds during one of the tournament days.

I have been offered Practice tickets a few times (vendors and what not) but always declined because I felt for my first time I wanted to be there on a tournament day.

Maybe next year if I get offered I will go.

My goal is to go on a Sat and Sun
Saturday follow a group that is not as popular to get to see the entire course.
But Sunday sit on 16 after the leaders Tee off and watch all the groups come in on 16.

Maybe I am wrong I have felt several Tournaments have been won or lost on 16 on Sunday.

to each his own but I don't think that's a good idea. I've only been once and it was on a tuesday, but for someone that has never been I'd say probably 80% of it is the experience and the ambience and everythign that goes with it, and 20% about the actual golf storylines.

For your first time, gonon a practice day. You’ll want to take pictures, you’ll want to drink the cheap beer and eat all the sandwiches and spend thousands on merchandise without also feeling like you’re missing something.

Seriously, the practice rounds are pure heaven on earth. You can do everything I mentioned plus set up a chair at the tee for 12 and just sit there watching all the greats hit their practice shots and joke with the patrons.

During the tournament days, you can’t brinng cameras (cell phones aren’t allowed on any day) and it is all business as you try to track leaders and hustle around the course. Half the fun of being a Masters patron are the cheap food and drink prices and just soaking up the place itself, all while still getting to watch all the big names as they prepare for one of the hardest feats in sports. If you’ve never been, you are going to want to walk the entire course and take pictures.

I won practice tickets 2 years ago and loved it. Actually won Sunday tickets last year, but seeing how many people were there for practice and how long the lines were for everything, I had no interest in being around that many people and not having as much freedom to walk around the course, plus I sold them for $3K so that helped

Having now been a few times I’d love to go on a Sunday but I would never turn down practice round tickets if offered

Practice rounds are my favorite. I prefer to go Monday or Tuesday over tournament days.

I've been every day except Saturday. I've found that I'd rather go to a practice round, preferably on Wednesday for the Par Three Tournament. Tuesday's seem to be the best day to interact with players. It's going to be crowded no matter which day you go. If you get offered these tickets again, do yourself a favor and accept. You won't be sorry.

And if you have kids, Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to get autographs near the range and clubhouse. Lot of guys (Tom Watson chief among them) will even take pictures with patrons on those days

It's the best opportunity considering how difficult it is just to get in on any day. Being there Sunday is hands down the best. Most people never get that chance.

Going to the practice rounds are great because you get to experience the mystique and take it all in without feeling like you're missing something if you just want to wander and enjoy.

My first time was a saturday and I felt rushed by my buddy that took me because we had a strict plan to follow. I just felt never had a chance to relax and really take it all in.

I went in 2015 for the Thursday round. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Food is cheap, atmosphere is awesome, I got to hear a Tiger roar when he made birdie and it is memories I won't forget. I want to go back. You really can't tell how hilly it is on tv, but walking the course it is just amazing how they can hit those shots. I don't think there is a level lie anywhere on the course.

I have been every year since I moved to Augusta in 1979. Back when the practice round tickets were $10 for Monday, $15 for Tuesday and $20 for the Par 3 on Wednesday, and you could just go up to the gate and get tickets the day of. Sunday by far is the best day to go in my opinion. The excitement and buzz out there is undescribable. A word of advice, never turn down tickets. People that have extra, prefer to have a "go to" person when they are trying to get rid of them. This way they don't have several people asking them every if they have extra's. Also, the lines may look long, but move very fast. They may be 3 times the concessions lines at Sanford Stadium, but you will never be in line more than 10-15 mins for concessions. Wish I could say that for Athens...lol

that's what you get when you have a dedicated group of people that take pride in their work and look forward all year to working opposed to having mostly volunteers that don't know wtf they're doing being spread thin and understaffed.

I know we like to pinch pennies where we can but the overall enjoyment for EVERY fan in the stadiuim would drastically increase if we would actually hire food service professionals to run our food services.

I’m pretty sure “don’t ever turn down Masters tickets” was one of the doctrines taught to me as a kid before I ever understood what the Masters was, up there with “frick Florida” and “go Braves”

Well I am still an "Intruder" in the great state of Georgia. I think its 10 years before you can actually call yourself a "Georgian" I am only on year three.
So as far as the Masters I was a TV watcher and someone who enjoys Golf.
So it wasnt until I moved here that I realized how its ingrained in the culture here. Kind of Like Mardi Gras where I am from.

I remember when I moved to Texas and I was confused and shocked when I learned we dont have Fat Tuesday off from work and school.

I am learning...
