Americus and I have talked extensively on Quay and we're both in agreement that we'd be happy with him in Athens or Tuscaloosa.

I'd be happy if Tuscaloosa didn't see anything over 3 stars for about a decade, but you and AD do your thing.

I agree. I don’t want to see Quay Walker with one of these new coaching staffs. I think both of our programs offer some stability which is tough in the SEC. I think all the other programs are quick to run off the coach and have to start over. How long before Malzahn is back on the hot seat? My guess when he loses to UGA and BAMA in the same season again.

Speaking of program stability, SIAP yesterday that Gus' gold-plated contract hasn't been signed yet.

For context, this probably doesn't mean much. Standard operating procedure is for University chancellors to leave these unsigned for an extended period. As soon as they sign, it becomes subject to FOIA open records requests.

I imagine it's been waiting on the new AD to review, but damn if t doesn't make fine recruiting trail fodder.

The whole defensive staff + Jonas Jennings saw Sandidge last night. Going all out for this one.

Is it legacy + playtime that's the draw for USCjr when it comes to Sandidge? Boom has never truly proven that he can coach up good players, IMO.

Yeah

That's a reach. The guy was a very successful DC for a decade and had a bunch of guys at UF play in the NFL.

I do think UGA has a decent shot at Sandidge though. I didn't a few weeks ago.

I like to see our guys put on the full court press for a good DT. Convincing Mom and quite possibly him being a lifelong gamecock would be a huge win.

Kinda makes you wonder about where we are wih one of our two DT commits.

Talk is Walthour is iffy about qualifying. They think he will, but not certain. Davis is solid.

I agree. The other draw for Sandidge is Columbia is much closer to home. It sounds lovely me Mom is going to be real important in this one and she really likes the Gamecocks. I am really proud of our staff for putting in the full court press even if we come up short. Sometimes, it helps you down the road with other prospects

That full court on Sandidge is interesting. The guy is a gamecock legacy/lean...this late in the game with that much attention you'd have to think we got some bad news regarding qualifications for the other guy.

I mean imo, that is a very tough pull...like 10% he doesnt go to USCe

It isn't like we don't have the time. We don't have that many spots left, and Sandidge is better than Davis or Walthour.

Did y'all see this?

Elite Georgia TE signee Luke Ford reacts to departure of assistant Shane Beamer

quote:

Georgia assistant coach Shane Beamer apparently didn’t inform Luke Ford that he planned to leave Athens.

If you missed the news, tight ends coach Beamer is reportedly leaving Kirby Smart’s staff to join Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma staff. That decision seemed to catch Ford completely off guard after being recruited to Athens by Beamer.

Ford, the No. 1 overall prospect from Illinois and the No. 3 tight end recruit in the nation for the 2018 recruiting cycle signed with Georgia during the early signing period. He chose UGA over Alabama, Auburn and Illinois. It sure seems like the opportunity to play for Beamer was a factor in his decision to sign with the Dawgs.

Ford sent out this tweet soon after news of Beamer’s departure from Georgia was announced:

Adding some added intrigue to Ford’s tweet, the tight end retweeted this follow up from a Georgia user: (For what it’s worth, Ford had since unretweeted this tweet)

I did. I think it he might have been a little upset initially, but I was told he deleted the retweet about being lied to and sent Shane a congrats tweet. I can’t verify any of that because i don’t follow recruits on Twitter. That just seems gross to me. Someone probably got in touch with Luke and helped him feel better about what was going on is my guess.
