my impression of "Sentell's Surprise" is that noone here other than Mountain Dew thinks there is any meat on that bone... right?

Sentell is a joke, as is much of the AJC.

You gotta realize the people sentell is catering to most likely don't live on message boards like we do. A "surprise" to his average reader may be someone like mays or cox that posters have suspected for a while.

IMO the only true SURPRISE at this point would be Parsons or one of the DBs like ITS or Campbell that haven't really been on the radar much.

Agreed - Parsons would be a small surprise - ITS or Campbell would be a shocking surprise I think

I would call parsons a huge surprise. Guy is from PA and has been a heavy PSU lean throughout basically the entire process (and wasn't he committed to them for a while too)? He had a major visit high last weekend which happens frequently with kids going to new places, but for that to sway him from PSU to here IMO would be very surprising.

That's a good point. A GSB Recruiting Board "surprise" would have to be pretty fricking epic to catch us off guard.

Yep the headline "5* UTk legacy picks UGA" or "Longtime 5* OSU commit picks UGA" would be surprising to people who don't bother with recruiting. I still hope its Parsons or Campbell, but we'll see.

I saw a headline TWO DAYS ago on espn that said "Fields picks UGA over FSU, will sign on Wednesday"

Like damn did they just find that out?

Wasn't referring to him. Coach I was referring to (Melvin Kinslow) was DC for two titles under Hightower. Hightower won State in multiple sports as well.

Good story, with quotes from Loran Smith LINK

There's a Harris still on the roster here. Always is lol.
Alton Shell coached the historic 70's run, although his staff was a huge part of it.... At least that's the stories we hear growing up here.

If we get Salyer and mays we will probably end up with six 5*s and an outside chance at seven 5*s. When is the last time this happened for any school?

Bob is as close as it gets to UGA football, that posts info online. Others may know someone or work on the support staff, but Bob doesn't need attention. Bob's job keeps him plenty busy... Like a

Program follows message boards and so do other schools. Some things can't be said, this stuff spreads like wildfire. A lot of reasons for it. Got couple in the late period we're after, but those names aren't going out, until the ok goes through.

Bama and Ohio St signed two of the highest classes ever last year. Top of my head just guessing, highest is 6, maybe 7.

Maybe GSB pelts are in our future. Making GTown some mittens for when it gets cold, and he's stuck at some shitty South Carolina high school stadium holding the goalposts.

I believe this is correct. I feel like I read it somewhere previously... (keep in mind that's in the last 10-ish years... prior to that, recruiting rankings were not really consolidated well enough to have a good count.

Alabama got 6 in 2013,2014,2015 and 2017, so 6 isn't all that far fecteched. (Of course I don't think anybody else has really come close.)
A lot of people don't fully realize just how good Alabama has been recruiting the last 7-8 years. For teams to be staying on the field with them is pretty good.

Seven 5*, though? That might be a record.

Yeah I think 6 is the high water mark. Bama has done it routinely as of late, OSU did it last year, and USC did it a few times back in the Carrol days.

Cox and Mays would give us 6, so our only chance at 7 would be the improbable event of landing one of Campbell/Stuart/Parsons.
