It certainly could be... I know that he isn't able to enroll early (something to do with the way that Pace Academy classes run)... so it could be a way of making sure that he is a household name throughout this cycle a little longer. Somehow he's managed to sort of hold this quiet attention hoarder position throughout his recruitment. Not a ton of interviews, and yet almost always a topic of conversation. The decision date was nebulous, moved a couple of times. Who knows at this point...

I am sure the Clemson coaches are talking to him about are Guard recruiting. Hopefully, the Hill commitment didn’t hurt us.

Clemson sources said it wasn't a smoke screen. Said that Mays would possibly be pulling him this weekend to go to Clemson.

That would piss me the frick off if I was Kirby.

Slow the panic down guys...an unsourced tweet from Sentell and y'all have already decided Salyer is gone to Clemson and taking half our class with him...I wouldn't be shocked if he still signs early with Georgia.

I was wondering if Hill signing with UGA would husrt our chances with Sayler. I sure hope not, cause I'd rather have Sayler.

Salyer has cancelled eleventeen visits to Clemson this year last minute only to find himself in Athens for the weekend. Doubt that suddenly happens the other way. I'm giving this "delayed announcement" the skeptical hippo eyes for the time being.

So the week Pittman goes to visit Mays in Tennessee, he then gets to pull Salyer away from his OV of the school who he’s been a silent to for quite a while.

Not sure I see that at the moment.

And what a ridiculous place we’re in. We’re now complaining about getting the #2 Guard in the nation because it might scare away the #1 Guard, who can probably beat out any competition he faces. Gimme a freakin break with that.

Agreed... it's not like Salyer made the post. "A source close to that situation has told DawgNation that decision day for Salyer now will be Feb. 7." It very well may be accurate *right now*... and that could very well still change by next week also. Tough to read too much into any of this stuff right now.

I do think we need to tell Mays to frick off if he’s stopping by Clemson on his way down, as reported

We should also reschedule Salyer's OV if he wants to delay. Kirby already used his in-home

I am starting not to want Mays just don’t have a good feeling about him. Of course, I don’t know him, but there are a lot of people putting out negative comments on him. It is mostly Tennessee folks, but there could still be some truth in it. I just don’t want him trolling us

Is it because of his play?

They still thought they could get him after the season they had if they made the right hire. Take everything they say with about 5 million grains of salt. If he decided to commit back to UT they would be doing cartwheels in the street. It’s all out of bitterness at this point. I’ve seen some UGA posters do it with Trevor Lawrence.

FWIW, the comments made about his penalty yards are not totally without merit. He's going to have to clean it up in that area... part of that is the "mean streak" though, as it's not an insignificant number of personal foul penalties... but he does get dinked for holds on a somewhat consistent basis. Ultimately, trust Pittman to identify the right dudes...

I agree.

I really just mean that UT fans would GLADLY take his commitment if he wanted to stay in Knoxville. He might be a little bit of a project, and could probably use a redshirt year, but I'll take Ben Cleveland 2.0 all day.
