Seems like an average DT according to what I saw on 247.
Just to point out, other teams wouldn't call him average
Dominant DT's are the weak spot in the overall class this year. Most every team is concerned.

Yeah, hopefully that came across in my post.

I'd have to imagine. Even the highest rated DTs don't look that great on tape... it had been discussed as far back as the beginning of last year's cycle, which is why everyone was concerned when Wyatt didn't qualify and we missed on Aubrey Solomon (after missing on D. Brown the year prior). There just weren't a lot of guys in 2018 that were going to be able to fill that void. Haven't gotten started on much of my deeper evals on 2019 yet... getting into busy season here for me and have to keep focused on 18 class until after the recruiting mock draft. :)

Will Richardson, right? Has already signed his LOI apparently, just announcing today. Haven't seen much in the way that would lead me to think we've got a good shot, but would love to be surprised.

While we are on this brief Basketball diversion, we did add a couple of solid players in Ngumezi (4* PF) and Toppin (3* SF).
Also thought this was funny (clearly just a proofing mistake but still...)

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Ngumezi from Johnson High is a four-star prospect rated as the nation’s No. 100 prospect.
He committed to the Bulldogs on Sept. 2, over finalists that included Clemson, Tennessee and Wichita State.
Ngumezi averaged 12.8 points and 111.6 rebounds per game last season for a team that reached the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs.

Playing catchup- I have questions:
What are our chances on flipping Brenton Cox from Oh St?
Why does Dylan Wonnam hate Georgia?

Slim. None. If he flips, look to Bama IMO.

Uncertain, but may not have been a take in this class anyways. Assuming we are able to finish with at least 4 out of: Salyer, Mays, Hill, Ericson, Condon - the only guy you could see getting booted in favor of Wonnam would be Condon and I think the coaches like him a lot more than his recruiting ranking. The injury all but guarantees his rating won't go up, but most who have reviewed his film have said he's much better than the rating services give him credit for.

Your brother got destroyed or Cox? I am guessing your brother. What school does he go to? (Your brother)

Yeah my bro got beat bad. He goes to union grove and is 6-4 200 and had to fill in at OT(usually TE). One play cox picked my brother up and threw him on the QB for a sack.

Alontae Taylor names UGA as his leader. Things are looking pretty good for him, his visit this weekend should only help that.

Just in case anyone wanted the link... LINK
Nothing super noteworthy in his comments, but good to know he's interested in the idea of being versatile... not married to one position or the other, so can feasibly see where he fits best, or legitimately go 2 ways (though that's such a rarity these days I have to admit I'd be surprised).

quote:
Taylor is a 6-foot, 182-pound Under Armour all-American selection who can do a lot of things on the field. Georgia is hoping to take advantage of that versatility.
"They are recruiting me as an athlete," Taylor said. "I talked to Coach Smart, and he told me that they would love to have me in a few packages on defense and a few packages on offense. And also be on special teams with kick return and punt return.
"That is why Georgia is so high on my list. I can do different things."
The Bulldogs are the frontrunner in Taylor's recruitment and their coaching staff is the main reason why.
"I believe everything that Coach Smart has going on," Taylor said. "I love Coach Tucker and I love Coach Chaney and Coach Coley and all those guys. Just the relationship I have been able to build with them this summer is why I have them on top."

So it looks like Jordan Davis is committing to us sometime today... I think he has a pretty high ceiling, higher than somebody like Cooper at that NT spot, probably won't be ready to contribute early but I'm excited to see where he'll be after a year with Sinclair and Tray Scott.
Also reading where Salyer canceled his visit to Clemson this weekend in favor of being in Athens for the UK game, as if we needed any more reasons to feel good about where he'll end up.

Good to hear... I hadn't been super impressed with the film I'd seen, but certainly seems like a good foundation. Do you think he overlaps with Walthour at all or does Walthour project more to the DT vs NT spot?

Lulz... if he picked anyone other than us at this point, it is a world class troll job and he deserves a round of applause and then to get his dorm, apartment, or future house egged repeatedly for the next 30 years.

quote:Walthour will probably be a 3-tech (think Tyler Clark), Davis will probably be a nose in our odd man fronts like you see with Jon Atkins and Rochester. Walthour might need a RS year as well, but at least it sounds like Wyatt will have a big impact early. By all accounts he took his JUCO year very seriously which I'm glad for, not many big guys can move like he does.

I think walthour and Davis will most likely both redshirt next year. Will be nice for depth and class separation.
I'm really high on Wyatt. Rare athleticism for a kid that size, and by all accounts a hard worker. Also, you've got to love that he owned his situation, is making the most of his JUCO time, and hasn't wavered on his desire to be a Dawg.
