We have gotten into a rhythm of playing 4-5 backs every year. It has worked much better than having 1 lead back and then a backup...it helps with our continuity and has seemingly helped with recruiting.

They know they will get their chance in an offense that emphasizes rushing, and they will get to the NFL with minimal wear and tear. No redshirt needed.

It's part of a philosophy change too. Notice we no longer publish depth charts, no official stat reporting, etc. The message is that the best players play regardless of seniority and that the ball gets spread around. It's helping keep everyone fresh in season and it allows the coaches to still go sell playing time even as our roster depth increases.

Minimal chance of redshirt. Running backs these days are bad redshirt candidates. They can contribute early, especially guys like swift and cook who have experience lining up in the slot and running routes. With the way we have recruited the position for the last few years, there isn't even a benefit to class separation to try and RS a player.

This... RS's will likely be most frequent on the LOS (both sides)... other than that, will likely depend on the individual, but RB redshirts simply aren't a good idea. The good ones won't stick around that long and the ones that might you likely don't want around that long (unless there is a medical exemption of some kind)... too many other ways to utilize them.

Running backs are also usually awesome on STs.

Sony was so freaking good on KO coverage his freshman year. There aren't nearly as many returns now, but it's still important. Swift plays on the punt return team. We'll find places for Cook to play his FR year.

111%

The 100% CB pickers have rolled in their selection for UGA. CBs have been going for us all day on Cook.

Looks like he would push us to #5 nationally and #1 in SEC.

My hatred for Michigan's coach has grown a lot. I'd love nothing more aside from playing and beating them than to steal their croots.

This... that is some scorched earth policy bookmarking...

Mostly unrelated, here is a great read on why Cook's commitment is happening today:

FWIW, I have it bookmarked as well. I was just going to wait until we finished with a top 5 class to bust it out.
