FYI top 16 seeds are announced tonight at 8:30PM on Twitter: https://twitter.com/NCAACWS
Rest of the field is announced tomorrow night at 3:30PM on ESPNU.
Dawgs are a lock to host a regional but question is if we can sneak into the top 8.
It's going to be a dead heat for that 8 spot between UGA, Stetson, Clemson, and Texas Tech.
Florida, Stanford, Oregon St, Arkansas, Ole Miss, UNC, and FSU are virtual locks at this point for 7 of the top 8

I thought selection show was Monday at noon on ESPNU? Is it really tonight, and not on TV?

According to Oregon States fan site, Top 16 are announced tonight on twitter and the rest of the field is announced tomorrow at 3:30 EST on ESPNU (says Noon PST):

On my channel guide for Monday it definitely has "NCAA Baseball selection show" at 12pm on ESPNU.
for tonight, are they announcing seeds as well? We're obviously hosting a regional but will we find out if we're a top 8 seed tonight or tomorrow?

Yeah I'm seeing where other sites say 12PM ET and not PT like the OSU site.

Honestly not sure. Some are saying it's just regional host sites but seeds won't be announced until tomorrow which I guess would make more sense if they're wanting to get some folks to tune in.

Even after us going 0-2 in the SECT I still felt 99% fine about hosting a regional...until arkansas and ole miss kept winning. If they had gone out relatively quick we'd be on easy street but those frickers had to keep winning. I'm pulling like hell for LSU to win today hoping that'll be some kind of benefit to us.

We will be hosting a regional 100% for certain.

I don't think hosting a regional has ever been the concern, but being a top 8 national seed so we have supers in Athens.

I mean we're going to host a regional for sure. The question is if we will be in the top 8 or if we're going to drop to the 9 or 10 seed.
Arkansas was a lock for top 8 before the tournament so they didn't hurt us any. Ole Miss was the team on the bubble with us, so to speak, but are now firmly in regardless of the outcome today. If anything, them continuing to win may actually help our RPI a bit but it definitely hurt us losing to them and A&M in the tourney.
Hope it's a lesson the program learns that you can't sleepwalk through the tournament because you can't control how far other teams (FSU, UNC, Texas Tech, OM, etc) are going to be able to pad their resumes. You want to win not just because it adds a win to the pile but because it's your best defense against other teams doing the same.

Does the number 8 seed host the supers even if they don't advance in the regionals?

No. I thought the team who wins against #8 hosts.

No, gotta win the regional to advance to Supers.
If UGA lost to Duke in the Regionals, for example, and we were slated to face the winner of the Raleigh regional (NC State) in Supers then Duke would travel to Raleigh for Supers because the higher seeded team would host in the event that a national seed loses.
But if we win our regional, we definitely want the home field advantage for Supers as opposed to having to travel to somewhere like Chapel Hill, Tallahassee, or Clemson. Crowd can be a big factor in those games (look at the 2008 Regionals and Supers in Athens as an example; Kudzu Hill definitely had an effect on the energy of that series)

Dawgs officially hosting a regional, will found out seeding tomorrow at Noon.
D1Baseball.com still has us in the Top 8 along with Clemson, leaving UNC and Stetson out

So do we find out when we play tomorrow too? Might head down to Athens if there's a weekend game
Posted on 5/27/18 at 10:10 pm to dawgfan24348
Yep, tomorrow at Noon.
There will definitely be games on Friday and Saturday. It's double elimination, so UGA will play at least 1 game on Friday and 1 Saturday. If we win, we will play Sunday and maybe Monday if needed.
Basically, you get 2 games on Friday, 2 on Saturday (Winners bracket and Losers bracket games), and 2 on Sunday (1 loss teams play an elimination game and winner moves on later that day to play the undefeated team). If the 1 loss team beat the undefeated team on Sunday night, they play a final game on Monday to determine who goes to Supers.

D1 Baseball’s final projections has us as the 7 seed.

D1Baseball has us at 7, hosting UCLA, Army, and Kent St in our regional.
We would then host the winner of the Chapel Hill regional.

how does it work if a top 8 national seed doesn't make it out of their regional, does the 9 seed then become a super regional host?
