I think we def have a chance with Soloman. It basically comes down to our recruits vs bama reputation.
Hopefully our boys can keep him home

Wow. I haven't really looked at any film of him, so I wasn't sure. Trent has been great. he really flourished this year.

There's no reason to give up, but most seem to be including him in their mock class.

I don't think the coaches should give up. I hope they don't ever give up on any recruit they want.
I just don't think it will happen. But when it comes to recruiting, I tend to be more negative unless I know something.

Kind of the feeling I've had.

Dang! Thought Fromm was listed at 6'3. I know those are usually a little off, but that's a bigger margin than I would have expected.

Seems we are always on the wrong end of the stick with the family. Either mom/bro/uncle loves UGA and the kid doesn't care what they think or the mom/bro/uncle loves another school and the kid lets them make the decision. I don't get it.

I disagree; not every recruit is as black and white as dying to be here and wanting nothing to do with UGA. Solomon seems to fall into more of a gray area.
For one, I don't think he really knows what he wants to do at this point. His whole visit and commitment history indicates that he has been all over the board. He hasn't visited Bama since the Iron Bowl but NOW they have this gigantic, insurmountable lead? I'd chalk it up moreso to the widespread enthusiasm surrounding Bama in the playoffs. Of course, that certainly counts in Bama's favor but it will subside considerably by the time he signs.
For another, we haven't been the forgone concluded favorite for Solomon throughout his whole recruitment the way Brown was. We're also not dealing with a situation in which Solomon's personal trainer is a former Auburn RB that visits him for lunch at his high school after every non-Auburn coach comes for a visit.
For yet another, our class recruiting itself is a whole different animal from anything we've had on our hands before. Guys talk and recruit, sure, but this has been something else entirely. In addition, I'd been told that Derrick was friendly with the guys already on the team but that he wasn't terribly buddy buddy with them whereas Solomon regularly talks to Trent and other guys from Southwest GA.
All in all, there is way too much going for us in our recruitment to count ourselves out just yet. We may be behind but ground can be easily made up with Solomon, it seems.

Mom loves Kirby and UGA and mom is who counts in this recruitment most of all. Supposedly, though, she also really likes Bama. If it's a wash in that respect, it's all about recruiting Solomon directly in which case we just nee to focus on getting him to campus for some unofficials in January and February before he makes his final decision.

ALPHA DOG
Georgia running back commit D'Andre Swift was the star of the afternoon practice as he got loose for a couple big runs. The speed, cutting ability and strength make the nation’s No. 4 running back per 247Sports a special prospect.
quote:
The nation’s No. 2 defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon of Leesburg (Ga.) High didn’t disappoint, splitting double teams with ease in the team portion, showing elite quickness and high energy throughout the day. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Solomon named Alabama his leader Sunday, also remains high on Georgia, Michigan, Auburn, Florida and USC among others.
quote:
Georgia bound offensive tackle Andrew Thomas earned a ton of praise throughout the day from several coaches, playing equally well as a run blocker and in pass protection. He helped spring running backs for big plays and he was able to block five-star defensive end Chase Young among others on the edge. No question was the best athlete of the group, and any questions regarding his grit were answered on day one. Long arms, great frame for the for the No. 12 offensive tackle in America out of Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy.
quote:
Georgia bound quarterback Jake Fromm is a great decision maker, knows where to go with the football and had a much better second practice after coming out of the gate slow.

Not Solomon related, but apparently Michigan's wr/co-oc/pgc is leaving to head to UCLA. Maybe this helps us out with Collins.

I will be the first to say that I do not have high hopes for us getting Solomon but one can dream....
What if Solomon is saying we'll get several unofficials after he officials to the other schools because he is trying to see what else is out there to compare to UGA (mama's favorite)?

FYI - Solomon is a complete beast. Watching him play and coaches game plan around him is hilarious because he steam rolls what ever is put in front of him. We are not out of it if the coaches and school can give him what he wants.
