When does Gibbs officially announce? If he's enrolling early then doesn't he have paperwork to do?

LeCounte says he'll be playing Star when he gets here. I think that is a perfect position for him and with him being an EE I'd be surprised if he doesn't start there early.

I'm pretty confident he'll go Georgia, but I thought Rice would for sure pick Georgia and I thought Wilson would for sure pick Michigan, so I'm counting no eggs.

I suspected as such. It's rough starting over at a new school so late, gaining chemistry with the team, learning a potentially new system, and producing on Fridays. I still think he'll bring some smack to our D.

I'd hate for you to feel like the Lone Ranger! A LOT of us thought it would play out just the way you described!

He's already filled out the paperwork for UGA. I do know that. But I couldn't tell you if he filled it out for Bama, as well.

Paperwork doesn't bind him to us, just binds us to hold a spot for him, but does allow for unlimited contact. Which you'd imagine is a good thing.

Isn't it only unlimited contact if he ends up signing? Can't we be retroactively punishes for dead period violations if he ends up going somewhere else? Honest question, but I feel like this came up last year for some reason.

An LSU recruit flipped to bama during the dead period after already sending in paperwork to LSU and they self-reported the violation. And the rant went crazy. Nothing came of it.

No Solomon on this list

I'd love to get Solomon but I don't think he has any real interest in UGA.

I suspect it has nothing to do with interest in UGA, rather he respects his Mom a lot, and she carries a lot of weight in the decision.

My guess is Momma wants him close but the school has to A. provide his desired major; B. have great coaches he/she are comfortable with; & C. give Aubrey a great chance to play at a high level;

My two cents...

Question for the board...

How much of Bama's success is having number one recruiting classes and how much is coaching? Bama has gone through a number of coordinators on both sides of the ball with consistent success on the field and in recruiting, however some of those coaches/coordinators have left and fell flat or had little success.

The consistencies here are Saban and recruiting. This can be said for each stop Saban has made. So what say you GSB?

coaching and recruiting is one in the same. the coaches do the recruiting. thus, recruiting is a part of coaching.

coaching=recruiting=coaching

This is retarded. Coaches do the recruiting, but also do the coaching. Les Miles a great recruiter, but shitty game coach and an great player developing coach (some positions better then others)

Okay I get that, but for all intents and purposes lets say by Coaching I mean, "On field/Classroom" instruction and player development verses Plucking a kid from High School who already has the talent/knowledge.

It's both. You have to have the talent, but you also have to work hard at teaching and coaching.

Saban has figured out that he has to keep a stern finger on his coaches to insure they never float through their jobs or take their jobs lightly. He stays on them hard so they will provide results all the time. But, he does a great job getting the talent to the school, too. The "mysterious" "process" that he does is the same formula successful business leaders have gone by for years. Hard work, luck, and more hard work.

The way I look at it, Hugh Freeze 2012 through 2015 record with 1 great recruiting class was 35-18. When all those 5*'s left, 5-7.
