Speaking of DT qbs, an offer went out to Emory Jones. Good to see we are back at to recruiting those with country club names.

What exactly is a country club name? Also, wtf does a name have to do with a kid's success?
While we're at it, I definitely remember seeing N'Kosi Perry at the club all the time...

Take a look at the 247 top QBs for 2017 and the overwhelming majority of the names on that list (4* or higher) would likely fit the theme you're trying to go for here...

Cheer for Georgia Tech if you want a running QB. I'd rather have dudes like Gurley and Chubb run the ball. If you want a QB who can move in the pocket and occasionally convert on busted plays, I agree.

What he means is that we need to sign the next deshaun watson, and we do.

I was making fun of some other poster who posted some stupid stuff like this when we offered a white kid with a regular name at qb.
How is a name like N'Kosi a common classy name? Emory as a name has more class than N'Kosi. Either way it was a joke making fun of the poster earlier for saying it.
The theme I'm trying to go for here is getting a qb who can run the ball if needed. I don't know why you think certain names only fit this. You racists?

EDIT: Found it, VoxDawg said it earlier in referring to Davis Mills with this quota

Ironically, Fib you downvoted me, but upvoted VoxDawg for his comment.

Also what is more important as well, is offering kids like D Watson, earlier in the process, especially when you considered he was from GA. Sure we may miss on a lot of these guys who are under the radar, but a guy like D Watson should receive an offer from UGA much sooner than he did. But that doesn't seem to be a problem now.

lolwut? I just went to double check and was able to downvote, so pretty sure that wasn't my upvote?
As far as your comment, I clearly missed the sarcasm. Which coincidentally you then missed in mine regarding N'Kosi.

If you read back through this thread, you'll find a lovely post of mine that basically says exactly what you just said you want:
quote:
Time will tell if Chaney is interested in bringing in DT options at QB, but realistically, you don't need a running QB, simply one that can slide in the pocket and throw well on the run... then if it's there, take 3-7 yard running play and get down. That's generally enough to keep defenses honest.
I don't give 2 shits what race the QB is, simply that they can get the job done. I do agree that the college game seems to reward athletic QB play, so would like to see us bring in guys who have the legs to keep defenses honest, but preferably not run first guys... Just my take.

My statement was a throwback to a previous discussion we had about a year ago, talking about CMR offering the kids with the whitest sounding names imaginable: Grayson Lambert, Brice Ramsey and Hutson Mason among others.
That was the extent of it.

Off season.
The more time passes, the more convinced I am that Demetris Robertson is gone like Alderaan. If he was serious about UGA, he would have gotten his family on campus. To even joke that Alabama is in the mix, when he insists that its academics first, and football a distant second, his brother is looking for any opportunity to get this kid out of state.

Off topic, but is anyone very familiar yet wiht the '18 class? I noticed yesterday that my alma mater SGHS has a top 5ish national recruit, a WDE. Anyone know anything about him?
For being located where it is and knowing the football powerhouses that we neighbor, they surprisngly haven't really put out many big time recruits. Greene was clearly the best to come out but he wasn't highly rated. Michael Grant kinda was but he transferred early in his HS career. There's been a couple SEC level guys (reggie carter, I think a WR went to vandy a few years ago, etc) but overall not very much. I have to imagine this will be the highest ranked player to ever play there.

When I was in high school, Shiloh (my alma mater) and South Gwinnett always took a back seat to Parkview and Brookwood. Now Grayson and Archer soak up a lot of local talent.
I havent seen Mascoll live, but he has great size at 16 yrs old. Rusty thinks he could be the best defensive player in 2018. In general, SGHS has a lot of young talent, let's see if they can keep other programs from cherry picking.

I'm a South Gwinnett alum as well.

But you're aware that Emory Jones is a dual threat qb right?
