Plus pushing the gf isn't that bad if she was physically/verbally abusing him.
She was walking away from him when he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her up against a wall, according to police report.

Is there any evidence of the gf being abusive before this happened?
No but she did say that Demery has been abusive before.

"On 04/22/17 at approximately 2115 hours, Downtown officers were dispatched to the area of the Waffle House, in reference to a black male choking (strangling) a female. Upon arrival, both individuals had left the area. Moments later, the victim called 911; advising that she wished to press charges against D'Antne Demery for hitting her. Contact was made with the victim in front of Boars Head. She stated that she and Demery got into an argument; he began to get loud, she started to walk off, he told her 'walk off again, and Imma show you'.

"She began to walk away again, at which point, Demery came from behind her; grabbing her on the back of her neck; pushing her against the wall, and also grabbing her by the hair. They were eventually separated by friends. Demery was eventually able to reconnect with the victim, in which he threw her; causing her glasses to fall off, and her phone fell out of her hand; causing it to hit the ground which resulted in a crack to the screen. The victim and Demery are dating and have a one month old child together. They came to Athens to attend the G-Day game. Contact was eventually made with Demery who admitted to having physical contact with the victim."

"There was also an independent witness who saw the incident take place. The victim advised that Demery has been physically violent with her in the past. They are from Brunswick, Georgia. Demery was placed under arrest for the above charges; placed inside the Transport Van, and transported to the Clarke County Jail without incident."

Tough situation. On one hand he is a young kid that made a mistake...probably because of crappy home life.

Would love to say he made a mistake and give him a chance to atone for the mistake.

In reality, being in a more structured and disciplined environment, we will probably only see his behavior get worse.

Very sad but perhaps Kirby can approach him to go to Juco and then come to UGA if he is really set on Athens. Otherwise Bobby Petrino could scoop him up.

I don't think he should get kicked off the team. He let his emotions get the best of him... maybe Kirby will sit this kid down, make him see the light, and run his big arse off during fall camp.

These kids aren't that smart. A lot of them come from homes where this is acceptable behavior. It's really sad because some of these kids can't get out of their own way but how can you blame them when mom and dad are allowing this kinda behavior...if dad is even present.

I know there has to be some sort of personal responsibility but at the same time we do what we learn to do and either mom and dad have taught him or allow him to be taught this behavior.

Didn't the SEC just pass a rule due to that guy UGA kicked off the team for violence against women that Saban signed and then he did it again. Something like violence against women and you are out? He gone.

That would be discriminatory and could easily be brought down in a court room.

I know the kid but isk the incident you're referring to. I'm sure that's probably a domestic abuse thing but would basically rule the same way without being discriminatory.

That's a weak excuse. You have enough outside influences by that age to know basic right from wrong.

If a man hits a woman he is no longer allowed in the SEC.

What if a Female tennis player attacks her for with a tennis racket and concussed him. Then he pressed charges. She could still transfer inside the SEC.

Obviously, I'm being hypothetical here but if they passed a by-law like that I would get taken to court very quickly.

However, if they phrase it as domestic abuse it cover all genders and scenarios and the same situations. Men will still be the majority of those but it is inclusive in its writing and not targeting a specific group (in this case males).

The rule involves domestic violence and sexual assault. It's not gender specific.

No it's really not. I'm not saying he should be excused because momma and daddy are idiots.

I'm saying I think his Scholly should be revoked but that it's a sad situation because behavior is learned and he hasn't had good influences in his life at some point.
